Alright... so we have 9 new players on defense, a lot of which are former jets. And 3 former giants on offense. Not to mention their former coaches. 

 

Now, I like JFM and Cor'Dale seems promising. I'm optimistic on Robinson..... but for the most part are we happy about this or just being optimistic bc the Jets and Giants have sucked more than the Titans recently. 

My understanding of it is that these are all players (not stars) who raise the floor AND already know what our new coaches want.  So, the new schemes are closer to working as intended instead of the usual slow start that comes with new coaching staffs.

That's what stops owners from going all out. So the $100illikn cap space is kinda meaningless, it's how much cash on hand will the owners spend

That's obviously the intent but... when those teams were terrible... worse than us, how much could they raise the floor? Are we just being offseason optimistic to think they will?

The performance of the Giants and Jets as a whole team is irrelevant. Way too many other variables that determine team performance.  What is relevant is the performance of the individual player,  how he fits and performs here.

Per OTC, Williams can be cut in 2027 with a 4M cap savings.  

Thomas, Herring, Volson are all on low cost 1 year deals

Townsend can be cut next year with a 2.4M savings.

Bellinger can be cut next year with only a 220K cap hit.

J. Johnson is on a 1 year deal.

 

Robinson can be cut be next year with a 6M cap hit or in 2028 with a 12M cap savings.  He's basically here for two years until proven otherwise.

 

A. Taylor can be cut next year with a 3.5M cap hit or in 2028 with a 15M savings.

 

Flott can be cut next year with a 2.8M cap hit or in 2028 with a 12M savings.

 

JFM is the only other contract of any consequence.

 

Basically all of these guys can be gone if need be before Cam's next contract come up or potentially how much J. Love might cost 5 years from now.

 

Worrying about overpayment is much ado about nothing.  Structure matters.  Don't doubt Borgonzi until proven otherwise.

They had a few good players on those crap teams and those are the ones we got, or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Exactly. Most of these guys are depth not starters. They will be able to hit the ground running and stabilize the lower end of the roster by already knowing the system.

The jets defense wasnt the problem with saleh and how many games did the giants defense blow after the offense gave them 20point leads?

Don Borgleone is doing an incredible job with this FA beefing up this roster in transition.

The Jets actually had a decent defense. It was the offense that was their undoing. For the Giants it was mostly the opposite. It was their defense that cratered.

Jets and Giants biggest problem was neither has a QB. Both teams had a lot of talent, especially the Giants

This is all more reasons why we should have beaten the Raiders out on Lindenbaum!
