I used to be good friends with Michael Manns daughters in my Hollywood days and would hang out at Michael’s house and use his pool with the girls on the weekend. It was an old silent movie era starlets mansion and had that feel to it with lush grounds and glass walls. Michael had an amazing vintage motorcycle collection including an Indian on display in his living room. His wife Summer was this sweet old hippie and they had a full size teepee in their back yard for spiritual getaways. One time I was hanging out in the back yard and freaking Val Kilmer emerges from the teepee and stretches in the sun and then goes back inside. I ask Michaels daughters what’s going on, and they tell me “Val loves the teepee and has been living in there the past few weeks.” I shit you not. Michael was very cool though. For my 21st birthday he gave me a production copy of the script for Heat that had been used on set with a nice note written in it to me. Still have it.
