I don’t think they ruined any progress. But they need to put him in coverage and there aren’t a lot of options at nickel due to depth issues.

What a waste of a first round pick. A synopsis of how poor drafting has directly led to one of the shittiest teams of all time. They are unwatchable.

I sure am glad they blindly drafted for need with Latham instead of taking a likely decade long all pro in Bowers. For a no.7 overall pick, Latham is really bad.

As much as I Was tackle over anything else, thats when alt was on the table. If they were deadset on taking a LT they should have traded back once he was off the board. And if they absolutely couldnt, olu should have been the pick, even though I wasnt a fan. 

 

Nothing about latham at 7 made sense.

Latham was a little bit of a tough evaluation. The way Alabama's offense was designed, he had limited true pass rush sets where he was truly 1-on-1 with an opposing ED. The few plays that he did, he had some mixed results but mostly stonewalled his defender because most college EDs don't have a pass rush arsenal. He was also a very good run blocker. 

 

By the time the draft rolled around most people had Latham above Olu and it seemed like it could be a good fit in TEN because Bill Callahan prefers big OLs. 

 

In retrospect, the last play vs. Michigan should have been much more alarming.
