Mythos27 Posted August 4, 2025 Report Share Posted August 4, 2025 The problem with the nerds that head up Titans reporting isn't that they're bad reporters; it's the fact that they don't know ball like that and don't look like they were ever even varsity caliber football players in high school. I don't know how it was for everyone else where they played but at my high school you weren't allowed in the film sessions unless you were a regular varsity player/starter. I don't know that these guys know what they're looking at half the time without someone more knowledgeable having to tell them. Amy is impulsive and he's lost enough that she can justify it to the fan base. If the season goes poorly enough and Cam doesn't show growth she could can him. It was obvious that the agenda bs was coming, it always does. The Titans currently have 3 new starters on the OL, a WR group that ranks 32nd with 1 returning starter and a rookie QB with 2 weeks of camp experience. Not to mention that the defense is throwing the kitchen sink at them. scine09 Posted August 4, 2025 Report Share Posted August 4, 2025 This really is year one of the rebuild. Last year unfortunately was a throwaway year. People shouldn't be expecting miracles. Of course you want progress and a better season that last. With a rookie QB, young players seemingly everywhere and so little blue chip talent on the roster not to mention a lack of depth throughout I don't know how anyone can expect the team to seriously compete for anything substantial. I think the front office understands that too with some of their answers at the opening of camp press conference. What you want to see is the young players grow and the mistakes drop as the season goes on. The goal is to be competitive by the end of next year, going into the new stadium as a playoff contender. Callahan is definitely next on the chopping block if the Titans aren't markedly improved in key areas. Not sure if that's fair or not, but he could well be the scapegoat for another bad season, especially offensively. His offense is not perfectly aligned for a QB like Ward (we'll see how he adapts), and he is not the choice of Borgonzi/Brinker but rather of Carthon. This is true, but future context will be needed to determine if anything is unfair or not. Callahan had his rookie year, fair or not. Will he win 5 games while the roster looks improved and Cam takes his lumps while improving or stumble into 5 wins while the roster looks like shit? Amy might be impulsive, but if Callahan pulls Levis coaching wise, it'll be warranted. And to be honest, you can bitch about her hires, but her "impulsive" dismissals have been pretty spot on - unless Vrable becomes a HoF coach. And don't get me wrong, I like Callahan and am rooting for a fun, albeit probably tough, season. Only trying to add color to what you're saying.
