The best organizations are patient because they're able to correctly identify their problem and address it rather than just hire and fire people until they luck into good results. I don't think we're one of those smart organizations so if Cam isn't a stud this year, I expect him to at the very least be learning a new offense this time next year and likely under a new HC.. It would be unfair, but like they tell you (hopefully)when you are four, that life is unfair. There is a better chance than not that Callahan is fired during the season. The average lifespan of a HC is 3 years. It's just business. Wasting Ward's rookie contract on a coach with whom there is basically no upside would be seen as the worse move IMO. (I hope not.) I think the "adapting" happened last year. I ripped him for being more hard-headed about running on early downs than Vrabel. Very little of the stuff he talked about prior to last season actually showed up in games from what I could see. I'm going on the assumption that he basically bent over backwards to create game plans that tried to maximize what Levis could do, which (again, I'm hoping) deviated from what he really wanted to run. From my perspective Ward should be a much better fit for his offense than Levis was. Levis was all about play action and pushing the ball down the field. Aside from Levis' obvious faults...that was never going to work behind an OLine that couldn't hold up in pass protection. Ward should be more about the short to intermediate passing game...getting the ball out quicker...which I think (hope) is what Callahan ideally wants to do. If he runs out the same game plans we saw last year I'll be extremely disappointed. Pragidealist
OnsideKick
Preseason PSA - just about every defense is ahead of every offense at this point in training camp. __________ Tyjae Spears has been a name to watch at Titans training camp “People I've talked to in Tennessee believe Spears has positioned himself for an uptick… Something close to 100 carries wouldn't be shocking” per @JFowlerESPN __________ “Don’t be surprised if Tennessee runs two-TE sets with Chig Okonkwo and Gunnar Helm” The Titans have been impressed with his pass-catching ability. Now, he has to nail the rest of the tight end routine, per @JFowlerESPN Edited August 4, 2025 by OnsideKick FRT, titanskick8851, and JbgTenn 2
SleepingTitan
My optimistic expectation is win 7-8 games. If forced to lay down a bet, I'd take the under 5.5. They simply do not have the depth even if they come out hot. Edit: The only way Callahan loses his job after this year is if that was the plan from Borgo/Brinker before the season began. They knew the roster sucked. Hell, they told us it sucked. Edited August 4, 2025 by SleepingTitan

Aramis
Been tuned out for a while, but are folks here still hyped about Restrepo making the final 53? Haven’t seen him called out in a bit or in any practice reports?

Not sure if that's fair or not, but he could well be the scapegoat for another bad season, especially offensively. His offense is not perfectly aligned for a QB like Ward (we'll see how he adapts), and he is not the choice of Borgonzi/Brinker but rather of Carthon. I agree with some of this . But I do thin he’s semi safe unless they look remarkably worse this year. They seem to like him and by signaling that the talent level is a real problem it gives him an out. But they can’t be looking like they did last year coming out of the gate like 1-8 or whatever it was . They do have to show improvement even if it’s not reflected by w/l
scine09
With Burrow in Cincinnati they started 2-10-1 and Burrow got hurt in that time for the year. Obviously you hope that doesn't happen to Ward but I think Callahan is going to use the 2020 Bengals as a model for this year's Titans team. With the hopes that in 2026 they're competitive, possibly for a playoff spot.

Righteous
4 hours ago, OILERMAN said: If you’re talking about Callahan right now you’re retarded The Titans are one of the worst teams in the league His job isn’t in danger His job is definitely in danger. He has accomplished nothing. We are not hearing reports of the defense being utterly putrid…it’s his offense. He is screaming now because he feels the pressure and he knows he is in over his head. Keeping Callahan is what bad franchises do. They should have started from scratch with a new coach and QB. Next year, Cam will be learning a new offense with a new coach, delaying his progress.
