Titans select WR Chimere Dike at Pick 103

Recommended Posts

A one-year starter at Florida, Dike worked inside (59.3 percent of snaps) and outside (39.9 percent) in offensive coordinator Rob Sale’s scheme. He lived out his childhood dream by playing football for the Badgers in Madison, but he made a business decision by joining the Gators in 2024, which helped him better audition for NFL scouts (led the team in catches).

With speed best described as “easy,” Dike accelerates on command to attack defenders at the stem or motor away from trail coverage. To fully weaponize that speed, he needs to improve his route pacing and stride manipulation to detach himself from coverage. He also needs to rely on his gear change to maximize YAC opportunities. Overall, Dike has somewhat of a confused identity as a receiver. He is more than just a field-stretcher, but he also must develop better nuance in his routes and at the catch point to become more reliable as a separator or possession target. There is something here, and his special teams impact (as a returner or gunner) should lengthen the leash as NFL coaching attempts to maximize his talent.

Strengths

Stopwatch speed reflects his on-field speed

Fires out of his stance and closes cushion in a flash

At his best on cross-formation patterns from condensed sets, which create a runway for his speed

Attacks leverage before sinking his hips to drive defenders off the route

Good use of head bobs and body turn mid-route to bait coverage

Plays ball fairly well in the air and put examples on film of finishing through contact

Averaged 11.7 yards on punt returns in 2024 (16 attempts for 187 yards) and was gunner on coverages (downed two punts inside the opponent’s 3-yard line)

An asset in run game with blocking effort

Became a captain in his one season at Florida, and his past coaches rave about his work habits (NFL scout: “Absolutely an A-plus kid.”)

Weaknesses

Underdeveloped pacing as a route runner

Speeds through breaks and gets his head over his skis, creating stumbles

Physical defenders can knock him off his path too easily (didn’t see a ton of press on tape)

Relies too much on cradle catches to help secure grabs against his body

Not as dynamic yards-after-catch option as one might expect

Inconsistent instincts as a ball carrier — needs to better throttle his speed and avoid tackles

Bio says he gets a lot of production on crossers, that matches with Ward’s strength passing in the middle of the field

Amateur people online didn't think he should be drafted this early, so I'm upset that professionals thought he should be.

I’m surprised the coaching staff didn’t do a deep dive like you did.

I’m guessing he’ll start off in a sort of Ted Ginn/khalif Raymond role and work to improve his shorter route running. He’s got two excellent teachers in Lockett and Ridley.

James Foster had Dike ranked as an early 5th rounder

Probably could've got him with our second 4th. Hoping we pull excellent value with that pick now.

Special Team player. Probably a reach compared to consensus draft boards but we stuck to ours. I dont expect much from him Offensively.

He's got to be the most average looking receiver I've ever watched.  Totally average in every regard.  He doesn't live up to his namesake.

His speed is above average and we need speed.
