This would have been a good year to address the OL.  Several tackles drafted in the 1st round this year will become good NFL players.

For many years now, the team has reached for needs instead of playing to the draft's strengths.

Borgonzi reportedly tried to trade up for Rutledge but just missed out. Were they supposed to ignore their board and go with a tackle prospect they didn't believe in instead of going after Keldric Faulk?

All we can hope for is they follow their board and that they're right. Expecting anything else is a waste.

If the Titans have functional pass blocking OTs in known passing situations then this all works out. The Titans have not been able to drop back in a passing set and give their QB adequate pass blockin

It’s a front loaded deal which is always the best way to structure a big deal

Now Titans have the luxury of having Latham sit and learn behind NPF

If the OL is terrible again, and the Ts that they passed on play well, then the answer is yes.  They should have done those things.  And Considering the # of Ts taken in the first round and the current makeup of their OL, that's fairly likely to happen.

Surrounding Cam with some legitimate talent at receiver was top priority. On a team with so many holes, it’s going to take a few good drafts. The Oline has been an ongoing debacle for years. Hopefully Borgo will turn that around.

If stiffs and butts were candied nuts you'd be pretty fuckin gay.

No one has the luxury of operating in hindsight before the fact. So...

It doesn't really require hindsight to see that the OL is poor at every position other than 1 of the Guards.

And if ward had 1 more second to throw but no1 was open what would you say?

Also, did you want him to spend 3 of our top 4 picks drafting linemen? That wouldn't gurantee the line is good either but we have atleast that many question marks

Here's to hoping the OL zone scheme with the line sliding left or right will cover up many deficiencies..

@Callidus Don't let them gaslight you. There were definitely conversations on this board suggesting that Alt was overrated and low key accusing people of thinking they know more than NFL coaches for daring to question if Bill Callahan preferring Latham over Alt a good assessment. Latham's transition to LT was also downplayed. That's one thing I don't like about the board; when a take ages poorly people pretend it never happened.

What fucking difference does it make? Alt was gone. Now it sounds like we did err in Latham over other availabilities, but we had no shot at Alt.

No one said we had a shot at Alt.  I'm not even out on Latham. I'm setting a narrative straight. What difference does it make to you that I'm setting a narrative straight?

The Titans had to have a LT. I thought they'd go Alt if he was there, he was gone. They would have taken him over Latham imo if they had the choice. It's too bad too, Alt has been dominant when on the field.

Anyone who even muttered the word “overrated” in regards to Joe Alt is proof that some people will do anything to come across contrarian. Alt was flat out one of the best LT prospects ever. The dudes one weakness was being too tall so he loses the leverage battle a bit LOL. He was an absurd prospect & never even played OL until his 1st year at Notre Dame where he just deleted folks.

Im sure there were also a handful of dorks saying Bruce Smith & Reggie White were overrated.

I saw some stats that showed when Alt was on the field vs out was about the same as SF losing Trent Williams
