Derrick Henry is still an elite back.

It’s also worth noting that Henry led the NFL in rushing attempts and had zero fumbles….something hasn’t happened in almost 40 years.   The last guy to do this was Gerald Riggs way back in 1985.

Look at all those defenders chasing down a rolling tomato can!

Derrick Henry sure seems to get a lot of those "anybody could do it, perfectly blocked plays" ever since he was declared a bum by message board illuminati.    Luckiest back in history, I gue

Hasn’t been an issue for him thus far.

I don't know enough about his condition, except it is a knee condition.  I'm all for him becoming the top RB in the NFL, that's the Titans m.o.

I'm not sure he's shown enough to make me think he would be the #5 RB in the NFL if they made him the Titans #1.  Derrick is the #5 RB in the league.  If the goal is to win games, not the best idea.

I think there is some tomfoolery being perpetuated on innocent dullards, such as myself.  Preposterous ideas, theories, redacted prophecies and a few WTF's are being secreted around the board for slow-witted members to step in.

Thus far I have..ways jumping GIF

You guys don't watch enough other games and don't really realize what we got.

Sometimes people are not really watching.  Start of the season Henry was getting hit behind the los.  A bunch posters started saying he's toast because...

I was watching and I saw him getting hit behind the los.  Obviously he wasn't toast, but that is how they saw/see the #5 RB in the NFL.  I think it's easy to look at the game with confirmation bias and not realize it.  What they saw was a washed up RB.

And they were right, kinda.  He's a little less Derrick Henry, but he's still da King of this generation of RBs.

Henry has been really good this year. I wouldn't call him elite just because he's done well in limited pass protection and routes, but he's certainly still really good. Maybe there simply isn't any elite backs besides McCaffery at this point.

With that said, him not being in what I would consider elite, such as DH in 19 and 20, relative to the rest of the RBs he's still top 5, which is why a lot of us are laughing at the people who wrote him off years ago.

I bet that unless we're in a heavy set, even on 1st down if Spears is in, the defense would expect pass. We don't run Spears often enough on 1st to break that tendency. 11 personnel with Spears in, I'm thinking pass regardless of what down it is.

Good point, his rushing stats are clearly distorted!

Its crazy. They telegraph run even out of 11. You can tell by Wesco and NWI being on the field in 11.

We have to be one of the easiest teams to gameplan for just based off of our tendencies. I know we had infinitely more talent back then, but that's something I really liked about Art Smith when he was here. We were still somewhat predictable but he would scheme in these awesome plays designed to make teams pay for playing to our tendencies. I still think Kelly is doing a really good job but I would like to see us mix personnel packages up a bit more and yes, that does mean giving Spears more early down carries. It also includes giving Henry more 3rd down snaps too though. Both our backs are very good but both tip our hand much too easily.
