Excellent. It should be an outside hire IMO

Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

It's hard to imagine at least the mishandling of the OL wasn't a factor for JR, but being close to JR may not end up being an issue if the firing was more a personality thing. For Cowden's sake he better hope he can back up times where OL decisions were made contrary to his advice or insight.

You're just a a lot higher on Dupree than I am. I think we can cut him and not miss him much. He's been a disappointment and made himself expendable. Landry is the more productive player and as long as he comes back healthy, he, Simmons, Autry, and Weaver will be enough even if Weaver leaves a lot to be desired.

No way. Weaver can't do what Dupree does. I don't even like Dupree but this idea he's a bum who is easily replaceable is absurd.

As per his job description Cowden is responsible for the preparation of FA which is filtering/vetting/presenting a list of potential targets to the GM.

Given how poor some of the FA moves have been its going to be hard for Cowden to prove he didn't vett and present some/alot of targets presented to JRob.

He's overrated and has been for a while. He's not a bum but he's not special. He's a B level player making A+ level money. We'll be fine without him.

Normally I'd agree with you but Weaver hasn't really developed and can't set the edge to save his life.  And Edwards Jr,  isn't really athletic enough as an edge player.

You could tell that Robinson and Vrabel were really enamored with Brown and Simmons based on the time they spent with both of those guys in the off-season leading up to the draft.  Which makes me wonder about the changes COVID restrictions had on the entire scouting and vetting process 2020-21, as well as the effect it had on those drafts

It sounds like they were initially turned off by Burks, but their opinion changed with subsequent visits.   I don't believe they can develop the same feel for these guys via Skype interviews and otherwise limited interaction and tryouts. Robinson seemed to get things back on track in 2022, so I can't help but think that impacted his intuition and judgement

I think the scouting department is a good one, and an internal hire could be the right move.  Someone who's obviously much better in Free Agency and the cap (literally anyone), but could also do what Robinson did well in the draft .  I just worry that the midseason shockwave of his firing will have these scouts worrying about their futures and updating their resumes

The replacement options aren't great but we were just fine on defense in the games he wasn't there. We started to fall off a cliff once Autry started missing games. The guy has never been able to stay on the field for us and injury issues don't get better as you age. He's got a 57 grade on off for God's sake. People gotta stop reaching to make him out to be better than he is. Can anyone name the last time when Dupree just took over a game?

Listen carefully; no one, absolutely no one in your life thinks about you enough to actually make shit up about you. Arguing with guys like you is pointless because even when you're dead to rights you find some way to pretend you aren't. It doesn't work and it's transparent as hell but the fact that you try says everything about you. Now go away.

Even if Weaver isn’t THE answer, you can do much better than Dupree for 20mil.

or…sign someone still at Dupree’s level for much less than 20mil.

I mean, paying 20 million for a guy who produced 4 sacks on the year as the primary edge rusher is insane.  Look at his stats - it's basically 0s across the board.  You can say he makes the rest of the line better but outside of a couple of games, he's made very little impact and is a HUGE hit on the cap.  Absolutely retarded to keep him at the current cap number.

He's a tiny step above Mario Edwards/Weaver for 19 million more APY.
