El Guapo
https://sashastone.substack.com/p/how-the-left-was-lost#details I dont know if any of you will take the time to read this great opinion piece. Or you may just dismiss it. Maybe it should be on another thread. But it is pertinent to upcoming elections. headhunter

That's textbook interference by a President into DoJ investigations Basically hiring garland was a colossal mistake. I'm not totally convinced they aren't pursuing since they just hired a bunch more prosecutors for the Jan 6 investigation. That memo doesn't seem to apply to investigations that are already underway, which the Trump investigation is. It's about opening up new investigations during an election year (which would be 2024 in Trump's case, not 2022)
pat
They need to charge Trump like he's the small town mayor of Nowheresville, Any State. Being the president doesn't make him king for life. Jerry Blair, and CreepingDeath

LongTimeFan
You lefty zealots do realize that if they charge Trump, his lawyers get all the information/evidence, not just what they are presenting in the hearings. Plus Trumps lawyers get to dismiss hearsay Hutchinson. Call their own witnesses, etc. It's not some slam dunk that you extremists think it would be. And then imagine if Trump is cleared? You just created a monster you will never tame and doubled his supporters. Be careful what you wish for. Starkiller, and Jamalisms

I expect DOJ to continue to go after those in Trump's inner circle but not Trump himself. Thats been my stance since day one even though I think based on whats been presented, its enough to charge Trump.

I'm not sure that he will charge Trump directly depending how air tight the intent aspect of the evidence is, but I do think they will pursue many of the others involved. If you take a shot at the "MAGA King", you better take him down, because otherwise he just gets stronger. I certainly hope Trump gets indicted of course, but there could be legitimate law-enforcement and evidence based reasons why the investigation is overly-methodical. I do think there's a good chance that Trump gets indicted in Georgia, as I've said. That one seems pretty open and shut to me.
El Guapo
So you think if Trump is the nominee, Biden wins again. But you want him indicted so he cannot run and open the door to a much better candidate?

Wanting someone indicted for their crimes is allowed to be a completely separate train of thought than wanting to win the presidential election at all costs. You do realize that? You do realize that? Oh, I understand well. But putting Trump away (which is highly debatable) and giving the nomination to DeSantis will certainly have more long term implications for Democrat policies in the long run since I believe he will mop up whoever runs against him. So I will just step back and watch this unfold. A real trial will not be the one sided BS that is the current hearings and some of you are not thinking this out clearly. But enjoy the spectacle.
