Did we really draft Tate or does Jamal need to see him in a jersey first

Long story short, he is an analytical dream. Absoluty elite in   catch rate   contested catch rate   drop rate   yards per route run against both zone and man

Love Saleh's answer on how they'll use the Dline rotation to get all of those guys on the field and how they see Faulk. I think it's also interesting that he specifically mentioned Femi as a guy they want to play in that Wide 9 position. Also talked about Faulk as a guy who could rush from the inside so it doesn't sound like they see him as a guy who will get you 15 sacks a season so much as a guy who will set a strong edge and still put some pressure on the QB. Length and power to swat balls at the LOS. Foot quickness to beat Guards.

yup which is why its crazy to complain about the Faulk pick or the fact IOL is still a need. They are building the front 7 first for obvious reasons.

People kind of been mentioning Carnell not even being number 1 option at Ohio State. But don't forget AJ Brown was second fiddle to DK Metcalf at Ole Miss, but who ended up being the better pro??

Honestly I have to correct myself, AJ had the better college career...DK had the better combine!!

Tate couldn't have played much better than he did.  But let's be honest - there's almost nothing translatable to the NFL from these clips.  He basically running routes against air.  You'd expect any WR worth their salt to have great numbers under those conditions.  I mean, looked at 0:38 - he's lollygagging down the field and is still wide open

Other than his hands, it's impossible to say he's good or elite at anything, because he's virtually unopposed during his best plays

That cut up of every target and block was awesome. I'm sold the guy is a stud. Three thoughts: (1) I had no idea how shitty/streaky Sayin was. Guy was working with some terrible throws and still making plays. That certainly had a ton to do with his YAC yards; (2) I don't know why he is criticized for YAC so much - looks good to me with the ball in his hands (3) The biggest knock was his wiry frame or lack of NFL size or whatever. I was expecting some pencil neck. The guy looks pretty jacked to me. He's big enough where his supposed "lack of size" even if he doesn't add anything (he certainly will bulk up in the NFL) is a total non issue for me. He looks the part and he showed physicality on blocking and catches. Honestly feel like we have a stud here.

To me the thing with his yac was he looks indecisive at times. Not a big issue, he wont ever be barry sanders out there but with some experience and better qb play he should be good.

There's a video in this very thread showing every single target and a bunch of blocking plays. I came away very impressed. Tons of contested catches

Explaining how detailed of a separater he is in his routes is truly boring material to read, but I can say hes so discipline in steps and feet placement that its easy to project he will be successful releasing off the line no matter the coverage

If teams are pressing and shading him then even if he isn't lighting up the box score he is affecting how defenses scheme against us. If he's truly elite he'll continue to produce big stats. The question then becomes how do you get a Robin to his Batman or vice versa?

I saw enough in all those targets of press that if they aren't shading a safety then he's going to eat DBs up on 9 routes.

The real question is if his hands are underdveloped to get off the line (not catching)... theres just not a lot of proof on tape.

Tate did get a bunch of free releases. It's a legitimate concern if he'll be able to handle press man and super physical corners at the next level.

Having said that, I'll take Borg's evaluation over mine or the randoms on the internet.

Tate got a bunch of free releases because pressing him at the line is suicide.

I really like our WR group. This time next year it will be considered a major strength of the team
