Well done to PK he has been all over the Sweat saga and was consistently telling everyone he was going to be traded.   Also a rough day for Zach Lyons won't be able to give his weekly lectur

I thought it was much better to keep Sweat on his rookie contract than to trade him for peanuts. He's cheap and talented, so get what you can out of him and either let him walk or trade him his last y

All things considered, I’d say we got a pretty decent trade value for Sweat

Football media people are ignorant. We all know that very few people actually watch the Titans; most are just regurgitating what they've seen elsewhere.

It's really obvious why this trade happened. Anyone who takes Sweat's "talent" at face value, ignoring the very serious and very clear dedication/professional issues, is a fool. There's a reason he went in the 2nd, AND there's a reason many thought we reached. Those same weight, two-down role, dedication concerns that caused teams to pass on him have not been debunked in his two NFL years. In fact, the GM has been consistently and fully convinced about cutting bait with Sweat (if you believe PK and others who have said they are totally out on him).

Meanwhile, the production issues with JJ are clearly related to injury. He has all the work ethic, intangibles, scheme fit (and proven production in this exact scheme). He's young enough, but there's no way to be sure he can regain that explosiveness. However, JJ is also insanely athletic. His RAS score and combine numbers are elite. So this idea that Sweat is just some obviously and significantly better "talent" is silly.

Both guys have risks, and our staff strongly prefers the guy with a work ethic.

Another thing in the Jets favor is Sweat is signed multi years at a manageable salary and JJ is signed one year at a pretty big salary

So we’re learning daily what a Borgo team is gonna look like with Saleh at HC.

1.  Self motivated

2.  High football IQ

3.  No fatties

I don't think we have to consider the trade winners as much as the scheme fits.  It's hard to argue that at their peaks that sweat wouldn't be the better player... but it's a good bet that JJ will reach higher in our scheme vs betting sweat fulfills his potential

JJ has a 13.4M base salary.  The odds of the Titans signing another expensive edge or using the #1 pick on one go down.  They need to find an IDL to start and some others to rotate.

Who's the NT in either free agency or the draft that has at least some pass rush ability?

I still expect them to make a hard run to sign JFM who can give you very solid run defense on the early downs outside but main role is as an interior pass rusher so he’ll kick inside on those downs. He & Jeff would be a load on those key downs.

If that’s the route they go Id expect Bailey to probably be their preference at edge if they still go that route. With JFM inside on passing downs Bailey is basically perfect in a sub role as a rookie.

That said I think WR is the pick. Ward needs too much help. Unless we pull something out of our ass there’s just nothing that can help him enough. A guy like Romeo Doubs could help but only if we bring in a true 1A or 1B guy.

Id assume they bring SJD back on a 1 year. He was with the Niners when Saleh was there I believe. I’d love to sign DJ Reader who can also rush the QB a good bit. And guys like him last till almost 40 it seem like. Maybe even Calais Campbell speaking of 40, guys still dominating on a lower snap basis.

This doesnt matter because its one year. There is a salary floor and pur disciplined approached probably means we arent going to spend every dollar. His salary is okay for one year... we (fans) take this blanket standpoint that everything needs to be bargain
