40s don’t matter until they do. There is a golden zone for WRs up to about a 4.59 that they can probably play and so while you would prefer someone with 4.3 speed it’s not a huge deal.

Resrepo ran a 4.76 though. That would be a great time… for an offensive lineman.

Hes never going to be a consistent starter on any NFL roster and yes, his 40 time matters because it’s a reflection of what coaches noted during the draft process. He wasn’t fast enough to run all the drills with the other WRs.

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

That’s a lot of hooch

Where did you get the last part of this? At the time I swear there was something that showed he ran most routes except the go, post and wheel at an above average speed.

It was actually 4.83, but he said he was dealing with a hamstring issue. Not everyone here buys that though so it is what it is.

What's more important his how fast he is to the 10/20 yard line, his twitch/quickness in short areas, and his spatial awareness. That's how he played at Miami. He went deep a few times and made plays, but most of his work is finding space and soaking up the underneath stuff.

As far as stats like droppes passes, he only had 2 in 2024. Also had a 72% catch rate overall and for a guy who's only 5'10" with not terribly long arms he had a 61% CTC rate. So he can fight for and come away with the ball.

I think it was Greg Cossell but I could be wrong. They talked about how he was noticibly slower at drills and that played a factor in how scouts viewed him and he wasn't surprised that he went undrafted. I'm pretty sure it was in response to someone asking about the 40 time. Again, it could have been someone else, that was a year ago.

The shitty part is that Ridley will be gone next year, which is fine, but there's still a hole at WR, LT, and likely edge unless Femi or Jermaine Johnson can break out, which is possible. So, that's a hole at the 3 most important positions besides QB. Tough to fix that in one draft.

I do think the team is much improved though. If Tate can step in and have a good rookie year that opens up the entire offense. Ridley back to Z is a huge upgrade over him at X. You can think whatever of Wandale, but if you put the ball near him he's catching it. Pollard and Spears are pretty spare, but Singleton has real juice and I expect him to have a sizable role in the offense by the end of the year. Helm is underrated around here.

As for the defense, it's a bit of an island of misfit toys approach around Simmons, who is a top 5 defender in the league. JFM means you have to pick your poison, because you can't double them both, so I expect a big year from him because you're going to double Simmons most of the time. Flott and Taylor and essentially polar opposite players, but as a tandem you have a long striding boundary corner verses a short area guy who does get beat over the top but makes a lot of plays on the ball. Hill is a huge upgrade at MLB. This gap penetrating scheme opens the team up to getting gashed in the run game unless Hill can step in and play well quickly, because Barton isn't the guy to roam tackle to tackle.

Overall, I think they're an 8 win team with a spread of 7-9 wins. I bet we start off slow and pick up steam as the offense gels. If Simmons and JFM stay healthy and Femi/Johnson can be even useful at the Wide 9 spot then I expect a top 15 defense. The question will be can the offense win some shootouts and average 21+ PPG.

I've personally hated every draft class since 2019 until last year. I like this one better quite a bit more even though we got Cam. The value was there for every pick besides maybe the guard. By next year I expect 5 starters and for them to be competing for the division again.

That Titans offseason appraisal from Mays and Helman was fair when you have as much change as the Titans have had one season to another you just have to wait and see how it plays out.

When the team has had the worst record in the NFL over the last 3yrs they haven't earnt any trust and that is something they have to go out and earn before you will get buy in from the NFL analysts and media.

I really don't have anything against Restrepo, but he sees meaningful playing time the Titans offense is fucked...and I don't mean that as a knock against XR. It would mean there were injuries to guys who are significantly better than he is and the offense would suffer because of it.

According to to Wyatt, XR is significantly leaner this year.. I’m not buying it yet, but I hope to see if he’s quicker this season.

As was mentioned on the radio today, when you listen to a replay of his press conference, Saleh specifically discussed Mausi( x2) , Hill, Barton , and Gray at LB, but never mentioned Williams .. I don’t want to read too much into it, but it was noticed by the radio guys..

I’m not too worried about WR if the top 3 is Tate, WanDale, and Dike in a year.

DE is a wait and see game with JJ, Faulk, and Femi. There’s talent there but nothing is proven.

LT is certainly a potential gaping hole on the roster though.

That depends on Tate becoming a true #1. Dike becoming a real #2 is a projection, and if he doesn't supplant Ridley then it's rough to go into next year expecting it.

I'm higher on Femi than most and think Jermaine Johnson is a real add if he can stay healthy.

LT is a gaping hole in my mind.

Elic went on that DK/David Boston ramp up off season plan.

I said it when we drafted him that he's a weird player to watch. Makes highlight catches look easy. Had a few last year, but the one that sticks out was the sideline one hand catch against his helmet. His problem is he plays like a pussy and goes Trex over the middle. If he can fix that then he can be an NFL WR. If him gaining mass takes off a bit of explosion but makes him viable over the middle then maybe he turns it around.
