I was at the game yesterday. The defense eventually just quit, no fire in them. There are just too many episodes of coaching malpractice. I don't think the players have any confidence in the coaching staff.

Did you boo?

I don’t think Callahan can call plays and manage a game. He hasn’t proven he can do either much less both. Something needs to change. He looks a like deer caught in headlights. He is conservative when

That's not why. It leaves the coordinators in place and causes the least disruption until they can hire a HC in the offseason

Fassel.

I have an idea the kind of shit I'm bringing on myself tommby suggesting this, but if they're not going to fire him (at least in-season) could/would they bring in a consultant, similar to how we brought in Jim Schwartz? Maybe.... *inhales*.... Jeff Fisher?

What the fuck would he consult on?  Playing for FGs?  I'd rather go back to meathead than watch a team with anything to do with Coach Ocho.

OK... not Fisher.

But if they're going to continue forward with Callahan he needs some help.

I honestly think he gets one more week.  If we lose anything but a super close game to the Texans, he's gone.

There just is no excuse for the penalties, inability to tackle, and horrible game management.  Green or not, he's making mistakes HS coaches don't make.

Is Fassel ready to lead a team. Especially one potentially in the middle of a season? He is the best coach but has he been viewed as a head coach candidate?

Fassel took over for Jeff Fisher in 2017 mid-season for the Rams. He also went back to their Special Teams after the season.

You think the sacks are entirely on the HC? Moore is one of the culprits for all the sacks and he was the highest priced FAs we signed.  What I blame Callahan for is not coming up with a better offensive plan to offset the Oline deficiencies. Short quick passing game, screens, bootlegs. Everything is taking too much time to develop. His game management is bad. I hoped it was going to get better. Firing a coach 4 games in screams of the shit that got us in the position.

I didn't say anything about the sacks being on the HC. Of course, the players have to play bette,r but the coach is supposed to put them in positions to succeed and he's made it harder for them by manufacturing 3rd and longs through bad play calls, as well as the game plan and slow developing issues you mentioned.

Mostly I blame him for consistently not having the players prepared for their opponent or even knowing how to line up or what to do when they get on the field, for failing to exploit weaknesses or guard against their own, for the consistent lack of a coherent strategy, for fostering a culture that lacks discipline, and for not even knowing the basic rules of the game which has put the team at a disadvantage many times.

The sacks are mostly on the players, but it's certainly not helped by the fact that they are constantly in 3rd and long due to uninspired playcalling and poorly designed plays.

I agree about the firing a coach four games in, and I argued against it as recently as last week but he's shown us who he is. I'm indifferent at this point because I know how this will eventually end. He's gone at the end of the season, whether they fire him now or fire him later.

This is exactly how I see it. What’s the point of keeping him & handing off play calling? It’s the entire reason he was hired in the first place. What other traits has he shown? He’s abysmal in game management & preparation. I don’t really get General Patton leadership type vibes from him.  He grew up in the business & just seems to have zero feel for it . Any of it.

The roster is bad. There’s no question about that. But this is far from a historically bad one. And right now BC has the worst winning% ever. The guys won 3 of 20 & the Houston win was the only good one. They beat a completely decimated Tyler Huntley led Miami team & beat the God awful Pats by a FG in OT. It’s just horrible, horrible football week after week. The guy can’t pull a game out of his ass, can’t get a half decent stretch going, it’s just terrible. I’ve been a huge fan of this team for almost 35 years & this has to be the worst. You’d be hard pressed to find a stretch of football as bad, uninspired, and just fucking boring as this.

You nailed it.  This is an incompetent clown show .

The boring uninspiring is underrated here.   Once they get down two scores ,  I’m really close to looking for another game because you know they won’t do anything on offense and the defense will just give up big play after big play.

The steady stream of penalties is crushing. Any glimmer of hope for the offense is being snuffed by the penalties. The tackling is sloppy. Guys getting hit 3 and 4 times before being tackled. Play calls not getting in in a timely fashion. All that is stunting Ward's growth.. We're consistently behind the chains so on passing downs the defense can bring the heat.

We're swimming upstream, and we don't show some improvement the fans are going to mutiny as the chatter gets louder. It's not all Callhan's fault but it's his head that'll roll if things remain on course,

If Callahan is fired, I want to see Fassel get a shot at the interim head coaching spot.

He overlapped with Wilson with the Rams,  and give an experienced play caller like Mike McCoy a crack at running the offense

You risk completely losing the locker room.

I don't think we're particularly close to that. I don't think the players are where the fans are. We have a very high character locker room. Also, they watch their own film so they know how many mistakes they're personally making.
