The team lacks talent and star power within the starting 22. There are obviously some real weak areas, in key areas too.

Then the depth is terrible.

Obv this team needs upgrades at multiple starting positions and additions to build quality depth.

Extremely impressed with Ward.

Give him some real weapons and a good OL and Ward is going to be a franchise guy

Hear Me Out ..... Calvin Ridley 3rec / 50yds = 1 drive   now, let's assume the offense has the ball for at least 10 drives/game 30 rec / 500 yards per game quick maths

Out of all the rookies, I'm thinking Helm will be the biggest contributor to Ward's success

He's going to be a Witten/Gates type TE imo.

He's got pretty solid physical traits but he has the basketball background that translates to the TE position. He has awesome hands too.

He also has "good jeans"

I meant for how good or bad the defense will be overall.  How these guys who none of us have ever heard of and mostly will not be on the team did is not relevant to the Titans season.  Their defense may struggle this year but it's not because they couldn't generate a pass rush or stop the run with stiffs from off the street.

Remember that you quoted me, not the other way around. My original post said absolutely nothing about the starting defense or tonight's performance having any bearing on the future outside of maybe the possibility that the depth isn't very good. I have said absolutely nothing about this year's starting defense or what I think of it.

You said "but that defense though" which I took to mean that the defense was terrible.  I didn't read earlier posts you may have made.

I'm referring to that very post. But that defense though, is speaking directly about the defense that we saw tonight. Why would anyone interpret that to mean I'm talking about a starting defense that didn't play tonight? You assumed I was projecting forward when I wasn't. Preseason is about evaluation so I evaluate what's in front of me. What will happen when the live bullets start flying is anyone's guess.

The defense has a chance to be scrappy good/mid

To be "good" Fimi would have to explode and Sneed would have return to 2023 form, both are unlikely.

They also can't have any injuries of significance

Any real injury and it's a wrap. On offense we might be able to lose a receiver or two and a TE but that's pretty much it. The depth just isn't there.
