After signing Wilson and Winston it would be idiotic

I disagree. It’s 14M in GTD deals. Not a major commitment …One can be cut or even traded. The Falcons dished out 100M in GTDs to Cousins and immediately drafted Penix.

And fuck ESPN and the NFLN you pricks can't go to a commercial before the #1 pick.

Let us old-school football guys take a moment appreciate to the fact that the Titans earned the #1 overall pick the old-fashioned way.   Not by tanking or by trading up, but by simply being

I'd hate Hunter. The Titans best position is likely CB and you don't take a WR that high. If the Titans traded down to 3 and Carter went 2 I'd rather trade down again and maybe go for someone like Mem

If you were gun ho on getting the 1 pick you would only go for Wilson don’t see the need for Winston

Why do they need both of them? If you're taking a QB you only need one of them.

I saw those signings as a hedge against getting frozen out from the QB market as a whole.  Not to mention they easily could flip one of them in TC or in season to a team needing a vet QB if a starter or high end backup goes down.

There's also this factor.  Ward may not be able to start day 1.  Same with Sanders. With a regime that needs to win some games, you could see a scenario where Ward sits and learns for a bit.

I'd don't think either or both moves that needle much.  What it does do is making them less desperate than they were a week ago and elevates their floor of QB play short term.

That said, they IMO were never going to give up 3 1's and the real question is what the Titans true asking price would be.  I'd have to think that it's not coincidental that the Titans upped their price following the Ward Pro Day and same day Wilson signed with the Giants through the NFL media guys.

Maybe that means they love Ward more than ever.  Maybe it's a chess move to get the Giants to offer 2 1st rounders plus some day 2 picks.

I’m going to go with Occams Razor that Ward is locked in as the pick(They know giants won’t offer 3 firsts).

The film crew shit is the biggest give away. This wouldn’t entice Schoen to think he should offer more. It would make him think he’s wasting his time negotiating.

Titans are not coming off Ward without an offer that includes 3 first round picks. I think it is both of these things, not an either or. They like Cam more than ever. They have also gotten to know Cam the person as opposed to just a prospect they have viewed on tape and see a future with him in the building--this social/emotional connection matters more than people realize. The trust his confidence and energy.

I also think they are communicating directly with the Giants--this idea of "chess" I imagine these two front offices are very clear with each other at this point about where things stand.

There's no evidence the asking price is the minimum they'd accept.  Especially if the buyer's previous offer was considered a low ball one.....

I don't think the Titans Film Crew attending means anything.  Dollars to donuts they show up next week at the Colorado Pro Day.

Disagree BUD, the film crew has to be for marketing purposes, when the team chooses him.. I don't think it's to influence the Giants in any way, that's just too Machiavellian even for Brinker/ Borgonzi..

If the film crew does go to Colorado I will cede. If there is no film crew I hope we can all put this media spin behind us.

I think it’s all about marketing Ward because they fully expect to pick him.

That said, IF they were actively trying to up the value of the pick then it would be a clever move.

I don't believe for a second that if the Titans received an offer of 2 first rounders and an established a younger starting quality player under contract that they'd walk away because it's not a third first rounder.

Just the simple move of upping the asking price as the view of Ward is higher now than pre-Combine does two things - signal teams that they need to up whatever offers they've previously made and we like Ward enough to stick and pick without a premium offer.
