Dolphins statement on Tyreek (and Calais and Jonnu) situation

Tyreek definitely didn't do himself any favors, for sure.

But at no point did he show any sign of aggression toward the officers;   it was the officers who chose to aggressively escalate the situation, thereby turning a routine traffic stop into an incident.

There were also several instances where Hill had multiple officers  shouting different commands at him from different directions, which felt very chaotic and probably made Hill feel confused and disoriented....with several cops shouting different things at him, who is he supposed to listen to?

The same thing happens when the teammate (Jonnu?) pulls up:  one cop starts yelling at him to stop moving while other cop is yelling at him to get back in the vehicle.....once again creating confusion and escalating it into an emotionally charged situation despite seeing no aggressive behavior whatsoever by the citizen.

I have nothing but respect for police and the difficult job they're tasked with...but there's no question that these officers definitely crossed the line and escalated the situation on their own.

The only reason we're hearing about this incident is because the person they pulled over happened to be a famous athlete.   You gotta figure these officers have exhibited similarly aggressive behavior with regular everyday people dozens or hundreds of times before.....but we never heard about it and nobody noticed or cared because they were nobodies.

This attitude that anything short of model behavior gives cops the green-light to use excessive force is directly what leads to people getting shot for little reason. I get that cops have a tough job

However, cops are also allowed to aggressively drag someone out of their car, stand on their back, and detain them just because that citizen doesn’t do exactly what the cops said? No one was under threat and there was no reason to think so. Cops don't get to escalate situations so they can use weapons on non-violent citizens. It doesn't matter what Tyreek did in the past -- he wasn't a threat to the cops. This is why people talk about defunding police.

Give the bastard a ticket and go through the legal system if you want bigger repercussions for speeding. You don't need a militarized police force yanking speeders from cars.

The other key part is every law enforcement agency in the country trains extensively in de-escalation procedures. We have allowed police to skirt this responsibility by giving them a free pass under the guise of "officers feared for their lives". There are many great cops but until they stand up and speak out against the bad ones on a power trip, nothing will change.

The job is protect and serve. Many of them forget exactly who they are protecting and serving.

LOL come on bro.  How else were they supposed to get him out of the car after he refused to get out voluntarily?

If someone doesn't want to get "grabbed by the head and neck" and removed from their car, they can certainly do what they are told to avoid the situation.

He didn’t need to get out dumbass. They never even told him what he was pulled over for. And Tyreek opened the door and was getting out of the car when they attacked him. And then they didn’t it again after they let him up for no reason at all.

Come on man.  Tyreek was not in the process of stepping out of the car.  Dude wouldn't even roll down his window and was trying to cause a scene by acting like a bitch.  He was more concerned with talking to Drew Rosenhaus on his cell phone than he was in diffusing the situation and being allowed to go his own way without incident.  Also LOL at Jonnu Smith or whoever that was crying that the cops were "beating" Tyreek.  LOL

What if they hurt someone in the process?  Well then the department would review the situation to see if the amount of force used was proper or excessive given the situation.

Look there are certainly some bad cops out there and sometimes excessive force is used but at the same time most of these incidents wouldn't happen if people would simply display the minimal amount of respect they should display to those who risk their lives to protect us on a daily basis.

I knew you were a dumbass so being a bootlicker makes sense

This is so incorrect.  I'm not going to claim to know the law in every single state but for most of them you are required to provide your license, registration and proof of insurance upon request during a traffic stop.  In addition, you are required to get out of the car if asked and also to submit to a blood, breath, or urine test in the event DUI is suspected.

You might want to go re-read the form you signed when you applied for your drivers license.  Typically it says these things and you agreed to them.

Nah brother you’re only required to do that after being notified of the crime you’re suspected of committing.

I agree that he is a little bitch. I disagree with the second part.

He didn't do himself any favors. But these cops are way too happy to use unnecessary force.

Too many police don't know how to deescalate without flexing power dynamics. It's a training and attitude issue.
