I wasn't being overly critical of Levis. It was a small sample size as compared to Rudolph. It IS an open competition according to the HC. We need Levis to make a big leap and I hope he does but he totally benefitted from the good returns for field position and  ultimately scoring the 2 Tds. Rudolph got challenged more in his reps.

when did the HC say it was an open competition?

Willis looks much improved. He's actually throwing passes.   I mean... they're nowhere close to the receivers, but it's progress.

Not to hate on Henry but philosophically I'm in love with the idea of two guys like Pollard and Spears. Love the versatility at the RB position.

Other than the decision to run and take a hit, Levis has looked good in limited time

The reason I was so encouraged by Levis's play is that we all know he's willing to push the ball down the field. We know he'll try to fit it into tight windows and take shots. What he showed last night was a willingness to go through his reads and take what the defense gave him and they scored 2 TDs on 2 drives.

Very small sample size but all good things so far. Let's see if it continues. The deeper shots will come. It seems like the emphasis on improving his short passing game has yielded positive results so far.

Encouraging.

Yeah it def felt like they gave him certain assignments.

Levis had checkdowns with good runs after the catch. Rudolph ran the offense fairly well but he had some bad throws too.  Stats in a preseason game don't really mean squat. I want to see Levis push the ball downfield and navigate the pressure.

Both of these follow up comments to your initial comment are fair, but I don't see how you can say "round one goes to Rudolph" based on last night. Levis did what he was asked to do in 2 series.

I also don't believe it is an open competition. It's Levis's job. The announcers said it a couple times themselves last night.

Didn’t watch the game and don’t plan to (you guys are sick in the head for watching preseason football).

But I did note that the tush push is a pretty smart play with how big Levis is.

I’d hesitate to take spears or pollard in fantasy, because Levis might poach a lot of short yardage TDs when it’s nut crunch time.

Well Levis is bigger than any of our RBs so it wouldn’t surprise me if they go that route a few times

Rudolph was literally just check downs lol

While I agree it would be nice to see better judgment I still think everyone is blowing that hit out of proportion. Idk if it is the QB PTSD or what but the dude is going to take a few shots 5 times worse than that every game just throwing passes.

It wasn't the hit that mattered. It's the poor choice.

Open competition? For the backup spot amigo. Levis is the the starter.
