If we turned around and traded Burks to the Chiefs for more than we gave them for Sneed, I would down right cackle laugh for days.

No rumors of it happening... just random thoughts.

Leaving the scene of an injury accident is not a misdemeanor in most jurisdicitions; add in the street racing aspect which is problematic throughout the country and is being severely prosecuted just about everywhere and this isn't the big nothingburger you're trying to make it out to be. It didn't happen in KC so no one is going to want to cut him a break because he happens to be on the local team.

If he was the driver, he is looking at one year in county jail if no injuries, and if the people who went to the hospital have injuries, then he might be looking at 1 to 2+ years in a state prison depending on the severity of the injuries.

Rice fled the scene so now there’s no way to prove he was the driver or that he was under the influence. Legally he will still have some trouble but the league isn’t going to give him a huge suspension.

They have to prove he was in the car so unless there is an eye witness, it won't hold up.

I stand corrected about the felony charge.  It is a third degree felony IF there is serious bodily injury.

I doubt it gets charged that way, but who knows.

I would expect it would get plead down, regardless.  He doesn't play for a team in Texas, however, he played his college ball in Texas.  And, of course, he has the financial means to get great representation.

I think he pleads out.  I think he 'might' get some sort of diversion or probation.  I think he won't be suspended.  If he is, I think it will be 4 games or less.

IF he was DUI, then this was still a shrewd move.  Not loving that part of it.

I had a friend who wrecked his truck while drunk.  He was close to a bar.  He went in and started drinking and told the cops that after the wreck he needed a drink to calm his nerves.  He was never charged because the police suspected he had been drinking, but couldn't prove he had been drinking.

I've been thinking about Burks, 38, and a late round pick for 32 for weeks. This definitely makes it more likely. I keep telling you guys we are trading up for elite talent from 38.

Hmm that's actually fairly ingenious. Don't drink and drive, but if you do find your nearest bar and walk to it!

Did you just admit to a hit and run? Lol. Lord.

I was talking more about the racing and excessive speeds.

But, once when I was 14, I hit a car head on.   I was on a back road, the other driver crossed over into my lane.  He was drunk.  As soon as I figured that out, I jumped in the car that I was driving and backed up all the way down the street until I hit the main road and then took off.

That was the same night I was "racing" a friend of mine.  The quotes are because I couldn't hang with him really, but we were side by side down the turnpike.  I was in a 1982 Buick Riviera.  My buddy was in a 1988 Mercury Capri 5.0.  We were doing about 110 or so, and a cop clocked us.  We didn't stop.  We got to the end of the turnpike and he went East, and I went West.  The cop was dumb and tried to catch him.  We both got away.

I was a shithead when I was a kid.  Heck, still am to a certain extent.  But, I haven't run from the police in at least 10 years or so.

I agree. He'll plead down the criminal charge and get probation of some kind. This will likely end of a civil matter.

That wouldn't thrill me due to his injury history.

That said, the Titans have him under control for two more years, and have a fifth year option.  Those would all be relatively inexpensive.

If I were you, I would wait at least a season or two before I would start gloating if that trade goes down.

I hated selling my Audi. Thing was going to get me killed lol. Hit right over 160 in a race. Those were fun times.

There is some footage of the scene, so depending on what the cops are able to do with video enhancement,  your probably correct.

The main thing is about being under the influence.

You're forgetting Goddell is basically God and can punish anyone to pretty much whatever degree he wants purely for giving the league a black eye.

You guys should honestly start taking @dcblantonseriously. I have it on good authority that he has expertise in this area--in fact, dcblanton even used to teach driver's ed.

I even had my contact send me some exclusive of footage of him teaching driver's ed in action:
