We needed a backup for Lewan. Age,  a history of PEDs, a bad knee, etc. To think he would go a full 17 games and playoffs is ridiculous.  You can find some value in Rnd 3 with a LT to develop. The last thing we needed was a QB that was a project for god knows how long. You have to address immediate needs. If he didn't like Woodside he could have gotten a FA with some kind of game experience. This is typical JRobbed trying to hit a home run and losing again.

Not only that, Lewan's surgery was botched and he still had no plan B.  I think that played a role here.

Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

Its about trust and respect. I make decisions during the course of my day that are within my purview, some of them are extremely important. Others I know I need to kick upstairs. Some of those decisions I know what I want to do but need to garner support for it. Sometimes my boss disagrees with me and overrides me or tells me its my decision which is code for "this better not go sideways". There are lots of ways you can be a decision maker and still inform your boss without being micromanaged. The insinuation any owner shouldn't be involved in discussions on Franchise QBs and or star player contracts is just not based on reality.

You’re out of your mind if you didn’t think she knew

My point is you don’t want some random woman from Texas making the big decisions on player personnel

After his injury and performance in the Bengals game I would never have done that. He is 28, and we can all see he is not what he used to be.

Did you agree with me in March when I said cut him?  Honestly can't remember anyone other than @OILERMAN agreeing.

We aren’t winning a fucking championship this year man stop lol

I know that.

The point is all that fight and family bullshit is out the window. How are they showing up next week with this vote of confidence? You basically conceded the season with this move. If you fire the HC at least the hope is the interim comes in and makes changes. Firing the GM mid season is saying the roster is trash. Bad place for a head coach and organization to be, especially leading the division and almost a lock at the playoffs.

Huge gut punch to the team. Just a bad decision imo.

Lol on Tolar finally crawling out of the crypt to claim vindication and citing Conklin and other draft picks as the reason he was fired. He was given a 5 year extension in February so obviously Strunk had no real issues with Conklin, etc… This is all about AJ Brown and possibly dragging his feet on Simmons. Things that happened after he signed his extension.

Tolar bear came out of hibernation early off the low ropes with them alligator arms uh-swangin'.

That is far different from people suggesting JRob simply didn't tell AAS he was trading Brown.

I don't think thats the case. I think it was more along the lines of the events that led up to the decision to trade Brown.

... whats he chromosomes have to do with anything?

you dont want a GM making those decisions but you DO keep them in the loop and even if she was in the loop - when you fuckup it's your ass... he fucked up.

I honestly don't have a great explanation for why you fire him right now other than she was pissed about the AJ Brown trade all along and this game was basically humiliating to her. She was just mad and had to fire him right now. Fans were flipping her off at the stadium, right? If not for the Russell Wilson trade, this would be the worst trade in a long time.

she is Bud's daughter after all however I'll quote @ctm again here. Sometimes its better to make a move right away when you know thats the move you need to make. I would hope it was a culmination of events after the last 9 months: disastrous OL, bad WR room, Farley and Radunz not panning out, etc... and all coming to a head with getting blown out by the Eagles which shows the team is further away than it was in 2019.

Take your meds. firing the GM who is responsible for building the roster is not conceding the season at all. You are acting like they fired Vrabel and IR'd Tannehill and Henry... The team will still likely win 10 games and is a lock for the playoffs.
