Popular Post OILERMAN Posted September 27, 2021 Popular Post Report Share Posted September 27, 2021 I think after playing the Cards, @Seattle and now the Colts the Titans are about were we would have hoped, 2-1 and in control of the division. Barring a complete implosion they should win the next two against the Jets and Jags. First and foremost the loss of Arthur Smith isn't a loss in the least. I've maintained the OC doesn't matter nearly to the degree of the QB. I was laughing hearing NE fans criticize Josh McDaniels being a product of Brady now that the NE offense sucks. No shit. The Titans have added empty sets(5 wide) and implementing the RB into the passing game. I think the Titans need Marcus Johnson back on the field to give the offense a big fast WR to fill in for Brown and/or Jones when they miss time. They also need a healthy Evans to make better use of the RB targets. There is no way Henry can maintain this workload. They have to scale back his touches. I don't care how he works out, he can't do this over 17 games. He needs to be fresh down the stretch. The best thing after 3 games is the Titans appear to be good at rushing the passer. It was pretty obvious the coverage would be better with all the additions but the pass rush was still a concern. Landry has stepped up. Simmons and Autry are good inside disrupters and Adeniy has been a hidden gem. David Long played every snap yesterday with Jayon Brown gimpy(he only played 10 snaps). Long makes plays and has really helped the defense. The secondary is not only improved but they have real depth. Borders comes in for Fulton and makes a key pass breakup in the endzone. Molden struggles and Chris Jackson mans the nickel spot. Hooker is out and Cruikshank excels. This is without Farley doing anything and Hooker out. The defense held Seattle to 6 points in the 2nd half last week on a blown coverage and stone walled the Colts yesterday. They need to clean up sloppy play and get healthy, otherwise I think the Titans are right where we'd hope. This is with the injuries to Jayon, Hooker, Bud, AJ, Evans, and Marcus Johnson. With all the hype of Marcus Johnson is camp his return couldn't have come at a better time with AJ being hobbled. Regarding Henry's workload I can see some games where we get up and Henry gets some rest. The defense is going to go nowhere but up. The secondary was new to eachother and will just continue to gel. Fulton is balling out and is a starting CB hands down. Love the depth in Borders and Cruikshank. This all without Farley seeing the field. Imagine if he puts it together. Pass rush. Love it. Autry has balled out. Ola Ola Ola is a gem findings. Bud will just improve as he gets healthier. Team needs to take care of business vs Jets and Jags because they have real tests after them. We need a healthy Dupree though. As for Henry, yeah...it's hard because you have to win games, and he's obviously the guy. We desperately need someone to come in for a few drives and actually produce. The Nichols TD is a good example, though. Tanny is playing very well. Brown and Julio need to get healthy. Rashaan Evans needs to be completely benched in favor of David Long. Yeah, technically Long is Jayon's back up not Evans and yeah on paper Long/Brown is a very small LB duo but come on you have to stop overthinking shit and just go with players than can play. Best part about this team is we are still at like 65% of our ability level and still gutting out wins. Supdawg Posted September 27, 2021 Report Share Posted September 27, 2021 Agree, we must not burn henry up this early in the year. We need to try to limit his carries to 15-20 tops per game. I know that is more difficult when we keep turning the ball over and we need every carry from Henry to stay in the game. We need to start to be aggressive in throwing early in the games in order to build a lead. Still think the play calling is all over the place. There are a few nice wrinkles that I like, but not enough PA early. Feeling much better about the defense this year. Hopefully we don't implode when we start playing against good offenses. I am hoping we can start peaking at the end of the season this year and make a real run into the playoffs. Kinda glad we're playing like shit early. No team can sustain high level play all year long.
