Popular Post nine
Pffffttttt..... Mariota relies on cheap parlor tricks like razor-sharp accuracy, no-look passes, and deadly red-zone efficiency to distract people from the fact that he doesn't throw from his core. Bust. His ability to look off defenders and actually change his pass direction in the middle of his throwing motion is INSANE. I agree with the author of the article it's the best I've ever seen as well. He gets the defenders to bite by staring him down and beginning his throwing motion, as soon as the defender bites he throws a completely different direction while still acting like he is going to throw towards the defender and it's right on the money almost every time. He was already looking off Defenders nuts year 1 but last year was on another level. If he keeps developing his game at this pace, and can avoid injury I think we can expect 2 or more rings from the guy. This ability is indefensible. Opponents have to watch it on tape and think how in the hell are we gonna stop this. There is really nothing you can do. In one of the gifs, his feet and body were set like he was throwing to the right sideline, he threw a strike across the middle. He throws accurately with his feet, body, and head at a completely different angle than the throw would suggest. I've watched football a long time and I've never seen anything like those no look passes. He is Magic Johnson on the football field. pat, begooode, Iffy61, and 2 others

Even more when you consider the QB the Packers get to practice against every day. Even Rodgers couldn't prepare them for Marcus.

Because if you pick up on it, and try to anticipate, your still being thrown off your game and it could be a pass where he actually throws it where he's looking. Probably will only get better once he gets more and more comfortable with the playbook Trying to play defense like that robs a defender of his natural instincts. First you talk about Mariota having no staying power in the NFL and now you talk about making the dude throw, at all.... When no coach in the NFL wants Mett to throw, period. Mythos27
This is why the only way to defend Mariota is the same as Brady; tight, bump and run cover 1. He's similar to Brady in the sense that his smarts/eyes/release allows him to shred zones. Fortunately for us, few teams have the personnel to even do this (Denver and KC who we beat) and with our group of weapons someone is going to get open. begooode, and pat

These coaches are all setting the world on fire with their 500 ish or worse type records too. This "QB" does not have staying power. Really cant think of a guy who more has been done for, just so he can be out there. He's garbage. Troll bot is bot. Bluth

I was thinking the same thing. He appears to track receivers with his peripheral vision while using his exact direction of his eyes to fool the closer up defenders. Most QB's turn their heads and look directly at the receiver just before they throw the ball. The best are very quick at this. MM appears more advanced than this. He throws the ball still looking off the defender. It's really a gift and shows his absolute knowledge and willingness to trust his receivers to go where the should. Very special ability without question. Absolutely indefensible. No way a defender can know what you are tracking in your peripheral. Great years to come! Fuck off, Mett. We know it's you. It sucks you can't hold down a spot on a team but damn man... wasting your time congregating with internet losers when there are boogers aplenty to be eaten? Mariota's touch on the football is as good as anyone's in the league. It's one of his best traits. He knows exactly how much to put on the football. And there aren't many QB's if any that throw a more catch-able ball. Iffy61

The throws to the outside will be soft, as they will be downfield. Play the ball in the air. Happy hunting. Did you actually read the article?
