This change is clearly a result of the very positive reception to the Oilers throwbacks in recent years. Personally, I'm just glad they didn't half ass it with some gaudy ultra modern take on it. This is tasteful and being accused of being too plain or boring is a great sign to me. It could have been really really horrible. Will they stand the test of time? honestly I think the team success going forward is more influential, sometimes redesigns are used to energize a lapsing fanbase *cough*. But generally speaking a complete refresh typically lasts at least a decade or so. I give it two or three years before they remove or move the stars. The reference to the Broncos having some marks in the same spot from a few pages back makes me believe this is a "template" or sorts. I can't remember exactly but I want to say there was a time a decade or two ago where Nike came onboard as the uniform partner and most redesigns around that time happened to follow a template or sorts as well, and these change over the years.
