I could see it being Tate as well though. They definitely need to take a WR in the top 2 rounds unless they sign a starting WR in this second wave of FA. It's also possible that they are trying to make sure no one jumps them for Tate, that's not an impossible scenario. But to your point, if they're not purposefully putting it out there, how could you not think Love was the pick? Like, that everyone is lying about what they heard at the combine? Ramon Foster broke down game film of Schlottmann from last season. I believe it was the Bears and Cowboys games. He basically said that Schlottmann is a big blob that is going to take up space and not get pushed back into the pocket, but he's not going to generate a forward push or get anywhere near the 2nd level. He went on to say it was a good signing for what the money is, but that he expects Slater to take over at C sometime in the 2nd half of the 2026 season. Saleh has said repeatedly this offseason that it's not realistic to ask a young QB like Ward to carry the offense, what does that indicate? More play makers, sure. But it's more than that.
