If he played for almost any other team in the country he qould have been a 1. Giving him a much higher target share boosting the stats.

Being the number 2 on your own team doesn't give you a bump in what you produced in college. In fact, he was just as likely able to produce more because he was going up against #2s and the defense was routinely shading coverage to Smith. I remember the power going out for me and so I missed most of the second half. Was able to watch OT and witness that atrocious pass interference and the loss. I also remember how any highlight shows would give a different camera angle of that play to avoid showing the PI. It just looks like the dumbest throw a QB could make. I think that was the first time I paid attention to an entire season and postseason, too. I just remember the feeling of certain dread as soon as the momentum shifted in the second half and Moon and the Run and Shoot offense proved its biggest weakness of being unable stay on the field and run f’king clock. My friends and I were calling each other every few minutes: You believe this shit?! I hated life for many months afterwards. In fact, if it weren’t for the Rockets, Houston would still be known as choke city. Thank god for the Super Bowl implosion by the Falcons to take some of sting off the ignominious title of “biggest playoff choke job”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Comeback_(American_football) CreepingDeath, and DCTitan 1

Albeit, this was when Saleh was in SF To me this was always the plan. Popular Post AussieTitanFan08
One thing I wonder about this Ridley restructure/pay cut is whether the base salary has been lowered enough that he could be a trade piece at the trade deadline if things aren't tracking towards them being a playoff team. Every trade deadline its EDGE/WR/OL that are the most desired positions. titanskick8851, Dangermode, Justafan, and 2 others

Dikinbaus
Someone please refresh my memory, because I know we had a DE/DT do the same. I'm thinking it was Kevin Carter that played early down DE and slide to DT on nickel packages.

You clearly have a distaste for the dude. Everyone agrees he is a mid to high first round talent at the least. But ill leave ya to it. Nonreason to waste any more of either of our time. Where did I say he wasn't initially starting what I pondered is whether the contract adjustment gives them flexibility at the trade deadline if things aren't going as well as hoped. Don't forget before Ridley got injured last year there were some teams reportedly sniffing around him ahead of the trade deadline. I suspect his salary will be more or less minimal and the rest rolled into a bonus, so he will be easily tradable.
