I mean, it'd be easy to laugh at if it were Will Levis or Mariota pounding the table for a player... for various reasons... but people seem eerily quiet about Ward doing it. Everyone is praising the shit out of his football intelligence, but say nothing of his insistence for such a "slow, obvious scrub." Not that I don't think Ward is fine with letting the coaches and other personnel determine which players they want for their team. He's not going to pretend to know better than the coaches. But if he has a strong opinion people seem to be more than fine with them considering his input. Except for when it comes to Restrepo? Sure- and the coaches know Cam, want him comfortable, feel supported and - its just the end of the roster spot. So... yeah- could happen. May give X a bit more chance than a typical slot guy who's not a big special teams guy. It is a guy who played heavily with Cam, trained with him all summer and was one of his 5am guys. *shrugs*. Its why some 3rd string QBs will remain on the roster for years. I think preserving a PS spot for Restrepo in part bc of his connection with Ward is a useful choice. How did he do his job blocking, running routes, catching, etc. They could have put him out there with Ward, but considering they had the entire 2024 season of them playing together, not to mention the rookie camp and OTAs, they've probably already seen enough of them together to know what that pair brings. What they didn't know was what they had with all the receivers who haven't played with Ward. Ayo, Dike, Jefferson, Proche, Kinsey, etc. Maybe it's just that Restrepo didn't show enough to get more reps, but it could also be that the other guys needed more reps with Ward to give them enough film to evaluate them. prometheus 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
