We had this debate two years ago (when we thought we'd have to choose between Nabers and a tackle-- and it seems like Tennessee would have went Nabers if the opportunity presented itself). Its a matter of how you value the positions with style of play.

 

Ironically, I think Ward lessens the need for a top flight tackle because he gets the ball out so quickly and appears to have great spatial awareness in the pocket.

 

Again its a fun debate but I dont want to make it seem like I dont respect Sewell at all

 

Nabors was an infinitely better prospect than Latham. He was on par with Chase coming out. Sewell is an infinitely better prospect than Latham. 

 

Its not remotely the same choice. 

 

Its possible that Chase could have been the choice regardless but the fact they played together in college and Joe went to bat for him was a huge part of the reason he was brought in. Chase missed a good portion of time in school and had that going against him as well.

There's always room in every market for a heal.  Hell he could go national, but quite frankly, I got tired of his schtick, and if I want that kind of programming there are quite a few television news channels to watch that use similar tactics.  IMO, sports fans want balanced and truthful info, not some opinion designed to draw commentary, clicks or followers etc..  But don't be surprised if he's on Sirius radio one day..

Im bias since I wanted to draft him from the start, seems like a fairly low risk situation with some decent upside. If we find a backup for 1mil a year then good. If he has to play and sucks leading to a higher pick then good. If he doesnt end up making the team and is just cut between Thursday and the opener then who cares.
