GM's routinely get a 2nd shot at picking a QB unless the team is just beyond horrible. Why would I be concerned with what happens elsewhere? I'm saying I don't personally see that happening, but then again Ward isn't going to bust so the conversation is pointless. If he's healthy he's going to at least be a good QB. oldschool

Or a number of other players that didn't amount to shit. Or letting Jack Conklin go. I know he wanted to leave but not being able to keep Jack Conklin was the original son. VondyP
kind of feel bad for burks, terrible injury luck. and the fanbase holds it against him so hard because of the trade that brought him here. tough break but it's time to move on. I'm fairly certain he would have been able to get a fresh start somewhere else more appropriate without the injury settlement. I've never heard of an NFL contract with a non-compete clause involving Burger King or McDonalds.

I don't know about the first point, but it was a totally ridiculous situation for him. The trade and subsequent pick sent the message that they expected him to replace a top WR and also that he would be cheap, temporary labor and wouldn't be paid when it was time for an extension. And the coach's most noteworthy comments during his first PC was that his blocking needed work. Edited July 29 by TerryBoats

You also completely forgot about Derrick Henry... and Kalif Raymond.. and several others left and were better than here. Humphries? lol. Henry is a rb dickhead. Give him a good oline and he will run well. Kalif Raymond is your biggest claim. Name these several others who flourished after leaving here.

People tend to interpret production as improvement but it isn't always the case. A lot of these guys, like AJ, come into the league ready to produce and are either held back or helped along by their QB situation. AJ showed flashes with Mariota but not much more. When Tannehill was at his peak, AJ "developed" but then as Tannehill declined, AJ's production did too. Philly is an absolute juggernaut so AJ can thrive completely uninhibited. As a rule of thumb, you're right. You typically know what you're going to get from a WR in his first year. But there are also talented guys who end up in situations where they aren't nearly as pro-ready, and take time to acclimate. Davante Adams is the most obvious example, coming from Fresno State in a dink and dunk offense. Jordy Nelson took a few years ...
