Number9
1 hour ago, socaltitan said: He can be effective in a Tannehill sort of way. But he can't carry a team. The Vikings were able to keep him on schedule most of the season. He can be effective if he has structure around him. That gets harder in the playoffs though as he's finding out. Tannehill is twice as good as Darnold. Tannehill got old. All QB don't have the same wall. Tannehill hit his after 2021, plus the Cincy game affected him. He took a hell of a beating that year. Titans won 12 games, Darnold could have never carried that team after Henry went down. I don't think he could before. 19', 20', 21' either Those were great years for Tannehill. Brady played forever, different style QB. Tannehill took more hits than Brady because he couldn't move around. Lot of posters wanted to sign him through next season. Titans fans don't wake up, we might be signing Darnold.

prometheus
The reality is that there will be several QB-needy teams seriously considering the same QB issues and risks as the Titans regarding Darnold. I have no idea as to the effectiveness of the OL on those likely teams, but why would Darnold consider the Titans with this piss-poor OL. A FA decision on his part will possibly need to be pursued before the Titans could improve the OL in FA or the draft. Of course, a RT signing in free agency could affect that. On top of that, paying him will be an issue for any team seriously considering him. pro OILERMAN

Stan
I told you all darnold sucked. He had weapons all around him. I know wtf I’m talking about if the titans give this man money I’ll fucking give my my fandom for this fucking team. Guy is a worthless fuck who had a good year throwing to 2 wideouts who are going to be studs and a tightend who knows how to get open in zone coverage. Fuck him he can go back to seeing ghosts headhunter, FireInTheHole, Supernope, and 1 other 2 1

Not sure they would be keen to tie up $41 million via the franchise tag when he is unlikely to see offers in that price range now. His numbers were always a little inflated, he was putting the ball in harms way and holding the ball too long for the whole year, it just didn’t translate to bad numbers like it did the last couple of weeks That doesn’t mean he hasn’t had a very good year, I doubt their position on him has changed much
AussieTitanFan08
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said after Monday night’s loss to the Rams that quarterback Sam Darnold has a “special place in my heart” because of the way he played this season. But he acknowledged that Darnold wasn’t good enough in the closing games of the season. “I just want to say it’s very important we all think about Sam’s body of work, what he was able to do this year, when not many people thought he would be able to lead a team to 14 wins,” O’Connell said. “It did not work out in the end, and I think Sam would be the first one to tell you, could he have played better tonight? I’m sure he would tell you he could have. Could I have coached better? I’m positive I could have.” https://x.com/ProFootballTalk/status/1879098014910071266
Bongo59
TN bridge QB is likely Daniel Jones, Russel Wilson, Justin Fields, and not Darnold. The first three on that list can be signed reasonable cheap and if TN is wise they do a two year deal with them at low money because if the guy rehabs his career then you get two yrs til pay day. In those two years fix the OL and DL and keep Levis as the back up. As the OL improves then see what you have. Build out the whole roster....... I would not take a rookie QB with this OL. TN needs RG and RT. At pick one I would be OK right now with Carter or Hunter. I would not take either QB. They just are not worth the slot and I think Carter and Hunter are future probowlers. We need great players not just a guy at QB.
bizzyeddie
I'm sure it hasn't been but O'Connell makes it sound like the decision has already been made. but if you think about it the plan was to use Darnold as a bridge or back up to McCarthy all along so I guess I'm some ways it has been made that brief moment of indecision is gone
No1TitansFan
It's going to be JJ and DJ for the Vikes next year as I've been saying. Some team will still take a flyer on Darnold, won't be the Titans. This game is actually a testament to Goff, although he plays behind a really good OL, has the timing and knowledge of where all his options are to not get exposed near as often as Darold did tonight. As he has said, he doesn't study or try to emulate Mahomes type plays, he just keeps trying to perfect knowing where all his guys are and distributing the ball quickly when necesssary.
