Nabers isn't playing some super special role, he's just getting a ton of targets because he's good and the rest of his receiving corps sucks. Nabers is playing mostly Z from what I've seen and also getting a ton of slot snaps. He's not being asked to consistently beat the other team's #1 CB like Thomas is. Explain what is it about his role that is so uniquely difficult that it makes up for him being out-produced the way he has been by BTJ?

 

It should be telling to you that your best argument for Nabers isn't about Nabers at all but rather that his QB sucks. And saying that Lawrence was playing WAY better than Jones is a stretch, Lawrence has a QBR of 59... I agree it's not close but not in your favor. Mind you, I do think Nabers is a stud and both guys will be highly successful. Maybe next year they flip places but this year, it's hard to make a strong argument Nabers has been better.

You can flash and have a good year or two- but you can't have a true contending window without a true franchise qb. Manning, Brady, Mahomes. If you want to contend for a multiple years- you need one.   Its just the way the NFL is.. and why its pretty flawed. Its also why so many teams do crazy things to get them. 

 

Titans have tried to contend for decades without one and have only flashed a few good years here and there.  Doing that - imo- is settling.. excepting something less.

How many elite qbs did not come in the first round?  Bc that's the real question.  It happens but rarely. All this really says- drafting and predicting talent development sucks for every position.

I'd say Goff is doing that with the Lions....Hurts with Philly.   The reality is that the Titans will not get a franchise QB in the upcoming draft. 

 

I can argue the chances of success with a veteran, developed Darnold can come in and play at a high level in this system is far higher than over drafting the 3rd or 4th QB in a bad QB class.

These are some stout teams that as they say "can beat you multiple ways." Titans have a lot of needs. If we were making a move like that, we should double down on the run game, bring in a guy like Fields. They have way too many gaps right now for a game manager.

I just saw Ron Carthon at a restaurant.  I noticed he was scribbling on a piece of paper. I walked near him to spy a look. He was putting stars next to names on a list.  From my memory here is the list:

 

 

OT1. Will Campbell, LSU.

OT2. Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas.

OT3. Josh Simmons, Ohio State.

OT4. Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota.

OT5. Wyatt Milum, West Virginia.

Seems like Ward and Sanders and Hunter will likely be the first picks off the board

If we're sitting at 5 or 6 we have a really good chance at snagging Will Johnson or Abdul Carter.

 

I wouldn't even be upset if we drafted Pearce. Anyone but McMillan, strongly against drafting WR with top five picks. 

Will Campbell looks like a guard at the next level. Anatomically speaking he makes Skoronski look like an ectomorphic specimen.

Quite a few of the tackles sound like guards in this class by consensus.

I agree they may not get one this draft but they also will not be a consistent and real contender until they do.  So if there isn't one in this draft, collect capital.  Bc though there are lots of misses on qbs in the draft, its also the most likely way to get one.

They could easily sign Darnold and be a consistent contender, especially in the division they play in.  He's only 2 years older than Levis.
