What the Titans did at WR this offseason speak way louder about what they think about Burks vs words

I'd guess the current Titans staff would have never drafted Burks with their analytical approach.    QC and Meathead simply saw a big WR who could run fast

Running 22 MPH doesn't really mean a lot. Short area quickness and the ability to create separation are way more important for a WR. It's what Ridley is so good at. Burks is a long strider who can run

If they really thought Burks was a DAWG, they wouldn't have felt the need to sign Ridley, Sign Boyd, and draft another guy. Their actions say that they see Burks as a guy who can give them 10-15 snaps a game in specific situations - best case - and not as a guy who could be counted on as a full time starter.

We’ve all heard the old saying:  “Potential is a nice way of saying you haven’t accomplished anything yet.”

Burks has always had the physical skills and plenty of potential…but after three years, he’s yet to show that he can be a dependable and productive contributor.     At this point, it’s unlikely that he’ll ever become much more than what we’ve already seen.

No doubt Ran and Callie love the kid’s potential…but if they can’t depend on him to be available and contribute, they have to bring in guys they CAN depend on.    Which is exactly what they’ve done.

No doubt Burks will be given ample opportunity to prove himself and earn a spot in the offense.  But if he can’t stay healthy and contribute in training camp and preseason, then it’s just more of what we’ve already seen.

Did I miss a year or are you from the future?

Yep….My mistake.   I stand corrected.

It just seems like it was so long ago that AJB left and so long that we’ve been waiting for Burks to develop ….it feels more like three full years.

But you’re right….it’s only been two years.

They need 3 specific type players to run this offense.

Burks is likely the primary backup for all 3 spots and would I'd guess translates best to player-wise to the DHop role.

They can't rely on someone they've never been around that didn't produce before and was often injured. But that doesn't mean they have their minds made up on him. The Boyd signing is as much insurance as anything. It's just 1 year.

It basically tells me they plan on being patient with Burks to see how he develops in a real offense and he will get his 4th year at least... with a chance to get that 5th year option if he stands out

Damn...I was hoping for some lotto numbers or at least a copy of Grays Sports Almanac.

A team with a rookie contract QB is expected to shell out money for as many weapons as possible.  Even then, They signed 2 WRs with combined 2024 cap hits of less than $15 M.
