FireInTheHole
I mean, if you feed Henry as much as Vrabel does, he is bound to get TDs. Henry was decent/okay today, but wasn’t elite. OILERMAN

However, there were 3-4 plays that were set up as the type of plays he used to turn into 20+ yards or take to the house….but instead of breaking off a big chunk, he picked up maybe 10 yards and was taken down. Still a very solid play…but a far cry from the highlight reel runs from 3-4 years ago. IMO, Henry didn’t look anywhere close to being done today; he’s still very much capable of being a steady and significant contributor in the offense. His days of being the NFL’s #1 RB are almost certainly behind him…but I think there’s still a fair amount of tread left on those tires. Henry had 1 catch for 11 and it was a successful play. Spears had two successful and 3 unsuccessful receptions. Spears gets a lot of his yards in long yardage situations. It's not a bad thing, shows the coaches think he can do it. But down to down on runs, spears averages worse than Henry on anything less than 10 yards... which would reinforce the point. Since Spears is in on the +10 yard plays more (outside of first and 10) he has more space to get more yards.... I do not know his conversion rate compared to Henry there. But my inkling all season is the aren't being used appropriately. in the same way spears gets more yards on +10 yard downs, Henry is getting hurt by the predictability of 1st and 10 when he's in the game. The difference people notice in rushes mostly resides in the fact that we are predictable with Henry on 1st, and less so when spears is in. Not saying Henry would be as productive as Spears in the same spot, but spears also really proven to be as successful either when doing the normal situation touches like Henry. Just leads me to believe he's not a bell cow type back yet. A split carry situation helps him too. XAEA12, and Mythos27
IrishTitansFan
Henry ran better than Spears imo but they both ran well. Thw tipping factor was that Spears long run came on 3rd and long against a nickel defense, a give up play charleytolar, titanruss, and Mythos27 2
No1TitansFan
4 hours ago, Jamalisms said: Just a completely brain dead premise. Anyway, the point being discussed was not how good or bad Henry was but what his usage indicated about how the team viewed him compared to Spears. You're welcome to try to change the subject to the nonsense that you went to but let's be clear about why what you said was stupid in the first place: The fact that Spears played on a fourth down does not indicate that they prefer him over Henry, considering it's a game where he got less than half as many carries as Henry and actually produced less with them - something he, notably, actually tends to do the opposite of, regardless how many carries he gets. The guy tends to have a much better yards per carry and the consistency of that has been one of the biggest things that should make anybody squint at Henry. This is simply not the game for such a brain dead narrative, especially considering the context around that fourth down play that was called out. It really is a bottom of the barrel comment to have made and you should just simply admit that and run away. Running back is not a position that requires a ton of in game reps to transition from college to the pros; it's somewhat of an inate skill, which is why rookie rbs often flash early. Henry has earned every carry he gets now going forward and Vrabel is going to do everything he can to let him have a well deserved end to his time as a Titans if this is indeed his swan song. Besides if backs have such a limited shelf life and signing them to a second contract is foolish; then why not preserve the limited shelf life of a RB with the much stated lack of ACLs. Henry was decent/okay today, but wasn’t elite. Henry leads the league in attempts and is like 300 yards behind the league leader. He's the only RB among the top rushers that has less than 4 yds per carry. Seattle has one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. 2 weeks ago McCaffery had 147 yards vs them on 16 carries. Oooh Henry had 88 yards. He's going to need game 16 to get to 1k, vs the Texans it's not even a guarantee and he only needs like 30 yards FireInTheHole, Mythos27, and Justafan 2
OILERMAN
Eddie George's last season with Dallas, when he was completely cooked had a game where he had 15 carries for 75 yards(5.0 per carry), had a long of 24 yards. He also had a game with 99 yards. His game logs look eerily similar to Henry's game logs in terms of production.... George's explosive runs(20+) were about the same as Henry's(yikes) per carry. A few weeks after these games Eddie George was inactive then out of the league Wake up dummies Justafan, and Mythos27 1
big2033
I think the discussion whether he is still elite or not is not only asking for a lot but its irrelevant. The competitive Titans run we recently went on these last few years belong to him. And he’ll always be remembered for it above anyone else whether some can admit it or not. Thats it really. There’s no use arguing anything else.

OILERMAN
@Mythos27 You can laugh but those Eddie George numbers are real. Was he washed? Of course he was. Did he still occasionally produce? Yes There was nothing special about what Henry did yesterday against the 27th ranked run defense. It's just a testament of how far he's fallen that kind of production is celebrated rns90

It's just a testament of how far he's fallen that kind of production is celebrated I'm gonna laugh at those Eddie George numbers because you're being absolutely ridiculous as usual in that abortion of a comparison. In that season you reference Eddie only had 2 games above 4.0 ypc, 0 100 yard games, only 2 games over 75 yards, and only 4 TDs. So far Henry has 8 games over 4.0 ypc, 8 games of 75+ including 3 100 yard games, and most importantly 11 rushing TD's along with 2 passing. One was certainly clearly not even an asset to his team, while the other is his team's most productive player. According to you, Henry's ability level is that of someone who can only produce .6 yards per carry so what he did yesterday must have been like someone rising from the dead to you. Listen, you can continue to be wrong about Henry; you have tons of experience doing so. You'll be right about him being washed eventually but to day isn't the day. You'll have to wait a little longer to finally "be right" on a topic you've been wrong on for almost a decade at this point. You're like the Tannehill people who pretend to have been right all along about Tannehill just because he actually sucks now except that Henry is still the most productive player on the team. By the way how was it watching a YOU as recently as this year thought was elite, look like complete shit? Jamalisms, and titanruss

George was actually washed 2001 and was on the roster another few seasons. He had an 1100 and 1k season as a washed up RB. He had 12 TDs one of those washed seasons. He was a detriment to the offense, just like Henry is now. He wasn't the best RB on the roster those seasons just like Henry isn't now. The Eddie Homers made the exact same arguments and excuses you are right now.
