OK. Now let's do Spears's last 8 games:

59 carries for 230 yards. 3.7 yards per carry a long run of 19. I couldn't find the amount of 20+ runs but given his longest was 19, I think that says enough. Guess Spears is washed guys! Let's just get rid of him now. Are y'all serious?

Spears? LOL, dude has one game with double digit carries and he was great in that game. 4 of the games he had 5 or less carries. LOL @ judging that sample size.

Yes, we're serious.

BTW, I had no idea Spears had 45 receptions.

Tomato Can likely cost Spears offensive rookie of the year

It’s also worth noting that Henry led the NFL in rushing attempts and had zero fumbles….something hasn’t happened in almost 40 years.   The last guy to do this was Gerald Riggs way back in 1985.

Look at all those defenders chasing down a rolling tomato can!

Derrick Henry sure seems to get a lot of those "anybody could do it, perfectly blocked plays" ever since he was declared a bum by message board illuminati.    Luckiest back in history, I gue

He's a vested vet.  If he's on the opening day roster then his entire base is guaranteed.  Would you pay him 8M?

This is why he's in serious danger going to another team.

He doesn't play STs, he doesn't play passing downs and he's not a good runner anymore.

An undrafted rookie can do what Henry does for a fraction.

He's not a lock to play next year

Perhaps but just like you guys say there is a reason that Spears gets used in certain situations over Henry, if you're going to be consistent then there is a reason Henry gets used over Spears in the red-zone right?

The reason is because the HC is a moron.  As far as Henry's scoring, are you claiming that if Spears got those touches, he wouldn't have scored?

I could see him getting something similar to what Dalvin Cook got from the Jets; 1 year 7 mil, 5 guaranteed.

What an awful contract. Cook is going to get barely over 200 yards for the season and played 5 snaps in the Jets last game.

BTW, Cook had 1100 yards last year and 39 receptions. His new team don't give a shit what he did in the past

Spears has 59 carries in that sample. It's plenty to infer from.

The guy was much more consistent previously. Either he started sucking or it's not a coincidence both backs have stepped backward in production.

And quite a few of those carries have been on second or third and long.

It isn't some rearguard defense of Henry to say the line is terrible and no RB would do well behind it.

This is exactly like it.  I remember George had a 100 yard game against the Saints in one his tomato can years (2001-2003, don’t recall which one).  The Saints were a god awful defense that year.  And then the next year they played a good defense and George was back to his 20 carry and 55 yard shitiness.

Henry just beats up on bad defenses now.  History is even repeating itself where they bring in a young RB and the other guy looks great (Chris Brown).

If Chris Brown wasn’t soft he could have been pretty great.

Someone will sign him because his name and reputation proceed themselves, and it only takes one dumb/starry eyed GM or coach to sign him.

I don’t think he is washed like Eddie but he isn’t what he was and I do think you’re right his production could be replicated by many young RBs with fresher legs.

Is the OL worse, absolutely, but the drop off between last year and this year is massive. I don’t like the OL excuse because every player can have an excuse, he’s not performing the same especially down the stretch of the season.

Yeah, they don't want to grapple with the particulars. It's much easier to take pot shots and make unfunny jokes.

Maybe, maybe not. I'd edge towards yes but we don't know given Spears hasn't been a big scorer in the running or passing game so far. When Henry was a rookie and getting a very similar work load, he still found ways to score more than Spears has. Knock him for whatever else but he's always been excellent in the red zone and good at scoring. He gets a lot of opportunities but he's earned them and despite the narrative around here he's continued to earn them this season which is why he keeps getting them.  It's funny how the narratives go though; Spears gets the 3rd down and passing down carries because he's just better but when Henry almost exclusively gets the red-zone carries it's because the coaches are dumb. It's easy when we can just pick and choose.

Need to really beef up and utilizing the Offensive Line. Defense needs in doing the same thing. Think that Mike Vrabel as will be getting the pink slip come Black Monday after the season. Nice run however if he does get that pink slip.

Derrick Henry has been struggling it seems. Not performing above  his expectations like he always does. As Vrabel could be a problem.
