Henry is a HOF back doing HOF things when he should be declining.  He shows no evidence of stopping.  He will continue to chase and catch Emmitt.  Just watch.  After a few SB in Baltimore I bet he goes into the HOF as a Raven.

And then Bongo enters the chat.

It’s also worth noting that Henry led the NFL in rushing attempts and had zero fumbles….something hasn’t happened in almost 40 years.   The last guy to do this was Gerald Riggs way back in 1985.

Look at all those defenders chasing down a rolling tomato can!

Derrick Henry sure seems to get a lot of those "anybody could do it, perfectly blocked plays" ever since he was declared a bum by message board illuminati.    Luckiest back in history, I gue

Yes. Had Hurts not gotten hurt, the game likely plays out very differently. Wins and losses don't hang on the RB and RBs NEED either a good passing game or good OL to get theirs.

wins and losses hang on players making plays.  The QB simply has more opportunities to make those plays but they also rely on a good OL and receivers.

feels like most people just go off of stats...  the ability to actually watch the flow of a game and credit players for making crucial plays is just lost on most fans.

Many times I would come away from a game thinking Henry played a crucial role in the game only to find out I was retarded because his YPC wasn't up to snuff.

Ypc doesn’t tell the whole story of a performance, just like any stat

Seems fairly unlikely that Henry will rush for 200+….but if he does make the season finale his biggest game of the season, it wouldn’t be the first time.  Or the second time….or even the third time.

In 2019, Henry won his first rushing title with a 211 yard / 3 TD game in week 17.

In 2020, there was absolutely zero hype about Henry potentially breaking the  2000-yard barrier…but he did it with 250 yards and 2 TDs in the season finale.

2023 was a down year for Henry…but in his final game as a Titan he ran for 153 yds and a TD and looked like the Henry of old.

Henry obviously isn’t a big ego …but he  takes a lot of pride in playing at a high level.  And with all the hype and media focus on Barkley’s tremendous year, Henry’s season has become something of an afterthought.

It’s highly unlikely that he overtakes Barkley ….but I can absolutely see DH entering the season finale with a  chip on his shoulder like, “Oh yeah?   Watch this…”.

And when Henry gets in the zone…. crazy shit can happen.

Barkley still needs another 162 to even break 2k within 16 games. It's possible he doesn't even hit a real 2k season.

But anyways, Henry isn't running to beat Barkley, but I bet he's champing at the bit for another shot at 2k even if it is in 17 games. I bet says he gets close to 20 carries in the first half to see where he's at by half.

I think it’s godamn hilarious that it’s the Browns ( and Giants in Barkely’s case) that he might hit the 2k mark on.

Did you see him shake hands with Barkley after the Eagles game? Didn’t even look him in the eye. He was pissed.

While I think he tries more than many to stay humble, to be that good at something you have to have somewhat of a big ego. Which is why I think he can really get 2K next week. He’s going to run like his legacy depends on it.

Henry has a somewhat decent chance of getting to 2 K.  He only needs 217 yards vs Cleveland at home in a game they need to win to ensure locking up the 3rd seed.

You have to figure if the opportunity is there, they'll try to get it.

While the coach has not prioritized Henry getting carries, I could see him making an exception if Henry is having a dominant game.

Henry only ran for 60 or so yards against Cleveland last game but he also only had 11 carries, with over 6 ypc. If he feeds him he definitely could get it

If he happens to break a long one early, you'd have to think it will cross their minds and I'd imagine the OL would be all in to make that happen.

Ravens also need to win this game unless the Steelers are losing week 18

People are perfectly able to understand these things when it first their agenda. They make excuses or judge harshly based on what they already think about that player. Lost a lot of respect for many posters' ability to be impartial and frankly understand what was going on in certain plays. You'd see a TE get driven 2 yards into the backfield by the DE and posters in the game day chat would blame it on Henry. Just really low level stuff. Now everyone is shocked he's still really good. He was always good and there was nothing wrong with him. The team around him sucked dick.

I've always said Henry is a bit more dependent on really good OL play more so than other backs because of his style.  He needs to get rolling in order to thrive - his short area quickness/wiggle isn't anything special.

I also think 2021-2023 saw a level of decline - now maybe it was just playing in meaningless games too often - but he had that weird fumbling stretch and was getting caught from behind.  Things we didn't see in 2019/2020 or what you're seeing this year.

I also think Vrabel's philosophy/the OC play calling did him nor the offense any favors.  Far too predictable in terms of run/pass on early downs as well as personnel groupings.  That was what led to the hits in the backfield as much as the talent issues on the OL and at TE.

I think during the trade deadline and right afterwards he was mentally checked out. He looks rejuvenated. I said a while back to Mythos he looks like he finally shed some weight and got back closer to 240 than the 250+ he's been rocking the past couple years. He looks the most explosive we've seen him since 2020.

Add in the fact he isn't the center of attention in Baltimore like he was here because of Vrabel's insistence of running into stacked boxes. Lamar takes attention from him, the OL is getting him to the second level...etc and it's the perfect situation for both he and the Ravens.

The first paragraph here is window dressing. He's not doing anything new, better, or different than he did here. It just looks that way because what you said in the second paragraph is spot on. It's hard to look explosive when there is no running room and you're getting hit at or behind the LOS a stupid amount of time.

Just look at Saquon. He didn't magically get better either. Saquon, like Henry, has ALWAYS had that level of talent but couldn't show it consistently because his supporting cast was ass. He gets on a team with a good OL and running game and magically he's on the cusp of a 2k season. People are still refusing to learn the right lessons from this season. I'm not sure what else people need to see at this point.
