This is an ultra left account so take it with a grain of salt but the discussion is interesting. Down to Musk trying to void the deal via violation of a disparagingment clause.

Pretty sure he's just a rich guy who thinks the rules don't apply to him

I tend to agree but the scenario where he pays the billion dollar fine and tesla stock soars is interesting. I wouldn't put it past him to manipulate the system in that fashion.

It is interesting in the fact that he both has demonstrated a willingness to manipulate markets via Twitter, as well as having no filter at times when it would benefit him plus seemingly a very thin skin almost a la Trump when criticized, second guessed or merely even forced to share the spotlight (the whole Thailand trapped cave/pedo comments come to mind).  Thus both scenarios are very possible.

Since I still have a healthy amount of TSLA, I'll happily settle for whatever version = stock soars.

I honestly don't think if he does acquire Twitter that the world ends.  At least not much faster than it seems to be already.  I get the concerns and potential consequences, but it's more of a media story involving 2 huge public names and a What If game more than a likely reality.  Too much frothing at the mouth by people always looking to be frothing at the mouth.

Exaggerating?

Tesla: $1+ trillion valuation

SpaceX: $100+ billion valuation

PayPal: $100+ billion valuation

The Boring Company: $5.6 billion valuation

Solar City: $2.6 billion valuation

Neuralink: ~ $1 billion valuation

Like I said, Tesla and SpaceX are the only things I’d give him credit for.

Solar City went bust and he used Tesla funds to bail it out.

He didn’t do shit for PayPal, they just bought his company. He failed as CEO so they canned him. It was only after the board removed him did PayPal hit it big with eBay, but he still had lots of shares so he cashed in.

The Boring Company and Neuralink may be technically valued that high based on private investors, but they don’t really do anything yet. It’s just people investing in Musk. I’ll give him credit on those if they end up being some level of successful instead of just pie in the sky gimmicks.

What he has going for him is money and fame. He can recruit engineers and funding to try anything tech. No one thought SpaceX would succeed, but he got the right engineers to develop the technology and it worked just before their funding ran out so he made a fortune and he deserves the credit. Maybe he can do that in other fields, but I’m not giving him credit for funding schemes that don’t pan out.

@Jamalisms

Which forum's moderation style do you prefer more: The TOMB, GoTitans, or TitansReport?

Twitter was already basically TitansReport.

Imagine championing someone who thinks there's too much moderation here and wants to unban the few people who we've actually forced out due to overt racism or maybe we allow back the poster I had to ban after he shared someone's private address in a DM and said I will come and kill you. We should allow him free speech, right?

Remind me who the potential victim was? So maybe

This is the kind of backward ideological non-sense that is the crux of Musk buying Twitter in the first place. The meaning of the words "attack" and "disparage" do not mean what they think they mean.
