But yeah, wheres the burst? The burst was when they moved him inside for 2 plays and he destroyed the guard and looked a lot more explosive. He's tough to judge, but we have to try him outside before kicking him inside as a hybrid player. He has the athletic ability and strength, but his explosion and lack of hand usage was noticeable. He did have a really nice spin move, albeit a bit clunky, but for a guy his size was fairly impressive, so that was good to see. Johnson is that guy in terms of who we have. Wish we had of brought back Dre'mont Jones. Our pass rush specialist situation has to be bottom of the league. He had an excellent TFL, some good burst off the edge, and didn't look lost. He has a chance to be a good 4-3 DE. Same goes for Faulk, but he has a lot of work to do. Where he's plus is in strength at the POA. He's actually quite excellent there for a guy with his reach. He just has next to zero moves on the outside. The idea of him having a higher release point was on his summer "to do list", but I didn't see much change. If he's physically compromised, it may take a while to work some things out. The Man has the right attitude to be the greatest. The greatest listen. The feet. Gotta listen. Regardless of what I think of hom you are likely to be disappointed if you are expecting a top 3 qb at some point. That isn't a knock on him but greatness at the qb position is exceptionally rare.
