Popular Post Hyperion
One schedule reform that I'd love to see is that your first three and last three games of the season are against divisional opponents. This way you get to take the teams on when you're healthy at the outset and then you get to play them after the attrition and development of the season. It'd balance things out. Nobody wants these situations where you play a division opponent twice in three weeks. Alzarius, Supernope, TheBisco, and 8 others 10

I've never seen any rumor of the NFL considering it. Perhaps it's too logical for them. Justafan, titanskick8851, and IowaOiler

This version works, but to allow for marquee matchups (Superbowl rematches, etc) early in the season, there should be a bylaw for division games to be separated in first half and second half of the season for the same reasons you say. Strictly first three and last three is the best way with no exceptions. People will be happy with the hot contemporary rivalry of the day.

That gives them some wiggle room for early season headline games but still keeps the spirit of the idea mostly intact. titanruss, and IsntLifeFunny

Weeks 1-2 get earmarked for Super Bowl rematches or special marquee games that open the season. Weeks 3-5 are division games. Weeks 15-17 can be earmarked for possible playoff-implication/flex games with weeks 12-14 being used for the 2nd slate of division games. That would leave weeks 6-11 (6 games) for the meat of the schedule. But if they wanted to just earmark the first week for rematches and marquee season openers and then stretch the playoff-implication/flex games from weeks 14-17 they could. Or just extend the meat from weeks 5-11 (7 games). DCTitan, and Callidus
scine09
I think the last three games should be division games exclusively. That way if a team is within three games of first in week 16 you at least give them some hope. The other thing is if a team is out of it they’re more likely to go all out to win if it could potentially ruin a division rival’s season. I don’t think you need to start the season with three division games, however. DCTitan
Grizz
Being overly constrictive with the schedule is tough. A lot logistically goes into the process. Our schedule last season was criminal. But it is a reason we are were we are today with Saleh. I just hope it's more balanced this year. I agree with those saying the Giants game seems more likely than not. I think there's more to Dart vs Cam (same draft class and personality) and more to the other factors like Harbaugh vs Titans and Daboll vs old team to have juice there, and Titans and Giants are both on the upswing. New York market helps. I could see this being Sunday or Monday. Knowing how these things play out we're probably only going to get a Thursday night game against Indy. I think we get 2 for the simple reason that we added Saleh, & Dabol & Bradley to the coaching staff as well as added Robinson & Tate at WR in FA plus having Ward after he looked extremely promising year 1 Most likely 1 Monday night game and 1 Sunday night game You're correct though and we Most likely only get 1. They may include an extra 1 for leaving us with 0 last year though. That's rarely ever happened to a team.
