Tate doesn't seem like the type of WR Daboll has typically used which is why I'm hesitant to totally buy in on him as the pick. Same with Borg and Brinker. They come from org that have typically valued YAC. The 5 best YAC receivers (statistically) in this class: Skyler Bell (8.2) Devonte Ross (7.5) De'Zhaun Stribling (7.3) KC Concepcion (7.2) Omar Cooper (7.2) If the boundary receiver's role is diminished in Daboll's offense then maybe taking Tate would be a waste of the pick. Stephon Diggs was the #1 receiver for the Bills offense, but he's not a traditional X. Calvin Ridley isn't either, but he was Alabama's #1 receiver when Daboll was there. Tate isn't a traditional X either. He is closer to an X than guys like cooper but he isn't in that same class as true x guys like bell or boston. He can play X but he is likely better used moving him all over the place to get the best matchups. We already have plently of short to intermediate targets between Robinson, helm, bellinger, apears, and dike if they want to keep using him on screens and shit. I think dike would be much better used as one of those intermediate to deep guys though, and tate definitely has more value down the field than running slants. Justafan
Still hoping they bring back Zeitler, which would make me feel MUCH better about the IOL. They could still go after Jennings to shore up the WR room, but if they keep Ridley, they aren't in the worst shape headed into the draft. They'll need to take someone early. The deadline is approaching for guys like Sneed. I'd be shocked if they didn't cut him, but they still have that option as well?? Long shot imo, but that would give them a full stable. Otherwise, I’m kinda surprised at some of the moves they haven’t made. Edited March 12 by Justafan titanskick8851

I think they’re waiting for the right players at the right price to fill out this roster. Bongo59, and Justafan
Popular Post EC34
Themes of the Borgonizi/Saleh era: 1. Familiarity over Film. We all agree that free agency is typically fool's gold - for every dollar spent - at least 50% are wasted. That said, Titans went into free agency with one of the least talented teams in the league. They had to spend. What intrigued me was that they chose to mitigate risk with familiarity - eschewing 'potential' for known fits within their system. If the NFL is a 'who you know' league - the Titans free agency class has been proof positive: Borgonzi > Tommy Townsend, Josh Williams, Malik Herring Zeitler > Alonta Taylor Saleh > Johnson, Solomon, Franklin-Myers Dabol > Trubisky, Robinson, Flott, Bellinger, Schlottman 2. Collaboration. The Vrabel killer - this team has long wanted a connected front office and coaching staff. The list above is proof positive that at least at this moment, this is a high functioning collaborative team. 3. Violent. That was a new word added to the lexicon by Saleh (we have long been a 'love football' kind of a program). I think we see that best on the new wave on wave d-line. Simmons, Franklin-Myers, Elliot, Thomas and Johnson. This Titans team might not beat you off the edge, but they will bludgeon your QB up the middle. 4. Speed. Well, it's not world beating - but Taylor and Flott add speed to a really slow secondary, and Robinson is deceptively fast and deceptively strong. 5. Two-Years. Yep, they spent a ton of money. But its short, smart money. Produce or be gone by 2028. Is this a good free agent class? Who honestly knows. I think it is a safe free agent class. Both from the perspective of familiarity and contract construction. It didn't solve all the problems (thus, a 2-year process). 1. IOL. Schlotterman may be the starting C. Volson may be the starting G. Jaackson Slater figures into the discussion. Maybe Zeitler returns. I can't be too upset with the Titans not reprising the Dan Moore overpay (admit it, he was better than we all feared but clearly isn't a $26 million dollar man). The oline is clearly a work in progress. 2. Edge Hopeful about what Johnson brings. But they certainly can use a fast twitch bendy guy on the other side. Could it be Femi? Disputable. Is it a 1st rounder? Likely. Could they still use 2 more guys at this group? I think so. 3. Blue Chips Top-end talent is our greatest need and the hardest to fill. That is truly draft and development work. Simmons and Skro. After that I think Cam will become one. We don't truly know what we have yet in Winston Jr and too a lesser extent Cedric Gray, JC Latham. Draft Thoughts For me this is a straight Best Player Available draft. Address #3. Swing for the stars, particularly with the first 3 picks. This is said to be a meat and potatoes draft. Not a lot of stars (Love/Downs/Styles), but a bunch of solid long term contributors. I would just argue that we draft talent over position group. Ok, more than enough word vomit. Go Coogs! oldschool
I like how we are acting like the Titans didn't add to the offense in FA. They signed Robinson and Bellinger who will get tons of snaps. Throw in Helm and Dike in year 2 and you have more weapons. This idea Borgonzi has locked the Titans into going offense at #4 is crazy talk and just fans projecting because they are drooling over Love who is a great RB. I still maintain #4 is too high for Tate and no matter how good Love is, taking a RB top 5 in this day and age would be foolish. Trading back and taking Tate or Downs or even Bain around 10 or so is probably what they should shoot for unless they love Reese or Bailey at #4.
