OFFICIAL: Titans name Daboll OC

Recommended Posts

Cam and Rockstrepo gonna pull a Brady and Edelman one day.  Will look similar to this...

Rocky lines up wide, but then, Cam gonna shout, "Julian Xavier, get in the slot!"

#11 #87 then moves to the slot...

The bluster of comparisons to HoFers aside, if Daboll makes routine use of choice routes then XR could carve out a role as a volume guy who keeps the chains moving and as a threat in the red zone.

It's what the chemistry with he and Cam is all about. They both know what the other is going to do in ____ situation. When defender does X, we do Y. When defender does Y, we do Z.

That is the ABCs XYZs of it.

Good luck finding someone slow enough to cover him, its like a jet trying to dog fight a crop duster that's cruising speed is lower than its stall speed.

As I told a Steelerfan who was glossing Hines back in the day: " yeah, he's great when see-it-throw-it Ben finally wakes up in the fourth quarter.  Essentially the guy runs the same safety valve routes as a tight end... only slower".  He became upset.

I still dont know about Daboll, he kinda blows and seemed to be in a constant state of disarray at the giants. He lost so many leads with his decision making there.

Hopefully Saleh doesn't just think he can hand the offense off again and expect it to flourish. He needs to make the go for it decisions and make sure Cam is being protected and progressing.

The most likely explanation is that Daboll just isn’t HC material.. coaching and designing offenses is hopefully his real talent. I’m pretty sure Saleh is going to decide just how  the team approaches each game- power runs, efficient c passing, and how often we go for explosive (> 20 yards) plays

Not according to how they are talking.  Daboll will have complete offensive control-  like an offensive CEO.  And personally I feel much better with Daboll having that control than Saleh

That is exactly what they are saying.

Maybe.. yeah. but I have miles more faith in Daboll running the offense than Saleh

Why would Saleh be running the offense? He's the defacto defensive coordinator.

They are trying to hedge (posters) bc they were worried about some of Daboll's calls at teh Giants.  Saying - surely Saleh would game plan or put limits on Daboll's control.  1) I  think that is the opposite of what they've been saying and 2) I hope Daboll does have absolute contorl of the offense and Saleh doesnt touch it (as you're saying) bc if Saleh meddles at all with the offense or offensive gamnplan-  that spells disaster imo

He was never going to run the offense.

But you can look at a defensive minded head coach like Vrabel and his influence on the Titans offense and see how he strangled it into something incredibly conservative and predictable. Seems like Saleh isn’t going to be doing that shit.

Saleh is not going to be running the offense...obviously. But at the end of the day he's the head coach. As any head coach would he's going to have input...and ultimately veto power...to make sure the overall plan is coherent across offense, defense and special teams. If there's a decision to be made about going for it on fourth down it's Saleh's decision to make. If he needs to tell Daboll to dial it back because they're up by 3 scores in the fourth quarter he will. That's just what a head coach does and Saleh will be no different.
