Their short-term 'Super Bowl' is playing well in the new stadium in 2027...

Titans at a minimum are in the playoffs in 2027. Teams seem to magically find themselves in SBs after building stadiums too

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

That’s a lot of hooch

So, if your math and research is correct, then Starkiller is more correct that the Titans probably shouldn't weigh themselves down with unnecessary risky contracts.  However, another angle is that Ward's big extension wouldn't come in this next cycle either, so if we are going to take a contract risk, now would be the best time.

We should only take a bad contract if a team is giving up picks alongside it.

I would love for sweat to prove me and everyone else wrong and become a foundational piece of this team. That was a big ask even before the scheme change, if you get offered a top 70 pick it would be really really hard not to take it.

Yeah let's just get rid of one of the biggest physical freaks in the league after a pretty solid second year and immediately after hiring a head coach who's proven to be adaptable and willing to adjust his scheme to fit his talent!

They’re not gonna spend nearly as much as the fanbase wants is my guess and we’ll have to hear about how Amy is cheap again for months

Agreed. The chiefs history suggests we'll really never break the bank for any player unless it's an offensive tackle or guard. So that probably means no high priced Wide Receivers or Corner Backs.

I'd expect mid tier players at every position of need unless we decide to upgrade OT and get Rasheed Walker. Romeo Doubbs would be my #1 receiver option and he'll probably be $10 million cheaper than Pierce. I'd expect we sniff around the same kind of second tier at Edge Rusher as well.

If they win 7 or 8 games this year then that's massive improvement and they'll be on the right path. Making the playoffs in 2027 is a lofty but not completely unrealistic goal.

Borgonzi needs to succeed where Carthon spectacularly failed in using Free Agency as a tool to restore short term competitiveness while buying himself time to draft and develop the stars of the future.

Borgonzi also knows there is no way he can continue to preach patience when other fanbases like the Jags/Patriots/Bears see its possible to make large jumps forward pretty quickly.

I’m not sure about that last part if they care about sustained success. We were talking about the Commanders as one of those teams a year ago. Totally possible one of those three teams could regress big time too this year.

Borgonzi already ditched the preaching for patience in his end of season presser.

I’m curious how you think they’re gonna change their approach then. He said what he needed to say. Obviously they anticipate winning more than 3 games but I still think the approach will largely be the same.

Like it or not Borgonzi is dealing with the fact that the Titans have the worst record in the NFL over the last 3yrs he doesn't have time to slow play this rebuild anymore in the hope that eventually he will hit on enough draft picks for the team to be competitive again.

Ehhh. He was ok. He still wasn't useful rushing the passer. He missed more time, had more questions about work ethic and while saleh is flexible he has never used a guy near as big as sweat. We are talking a 40-50 pound gap.

Right. I’m asking how you think that manifests this offseason. Using up most of that cap space? Trading picks?

I think it's still a be patient season, but "patience" now probably means being in the wild card hunt and possibly making the playoffs. I think 7-9 wins is expected, playoffs would be a cherry on top. Then we start making real moves in 2027.
