No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

Simmons had 11 sacks, 17 tackle for losses, 21 QB hits, 3 FF and a safety. He also missed two games.

That's right among Donald's better seasons.

I didn’t realize he had 17 TFL. That’s ALOT for an interior. That’s even more impressive than the sacks & hits. Tells you he’s playing in the other guys backfield.

He's in a more attacking scheme with Franklin-Myers next to him this season

Going to be interesting to see just how high the numbers on Simmons new contract gets. Borgonzi has 3 months to sort something out because there is zero chance Simmons is playing any regular season football for the Titans until his lack of guaranteed money gets sorted out.

I would also expect contending teams to continue to ask about Simmons availability (like they have the last 2 seasons) until that extension is signed.

The idea of trading Simmons is a total joke.

Simmons and Skoronski signing extensions is a foregone conclusion. I wonder with all their cap space if they might give both of them sizeable roster bonuses to count a large chunk this season and keep the cap cleaner beyond this season.

There will need to be a fair bit of cap culling next offseason if they don't carryover a decent chunk of the cap space this year.

Currently they only have $6 million in 2027 cap room prior to pruning the likes of Ridley/Moore/Barton and potentially Hooker.

I know you mentioned having a lot of roll over but its less drastic than it sounds. That 6mil in space number is with only an expected roll over of 12-15mil. We have over 50mil right now.

Also the first 3 guys you mentioned by thenselves with the same 13.5ish mil in roll over would almost get us to 50mil in space.

Then you have elliot, schlotman, joshua williams(5 or 6 guys in total) who can give us 3-5mil in space each with only a million or so in dead cap.

Our cap for next year is fine, they could walk into FA next year with 100mil again if they wanted to without making any drasic cuts depending on how you feel about Calvin and Moore, which im not sure anyone will cry about leaving.

Genius analysis the Titans best player and a top 3 defensive player in the league last season is going to be our X-factor.

I mean, saying he's going to be even better is something of a notable stance. What she said goes beyond x-factor.

It's unlikely that the Titans will need to sign as many starting level free agents in 2027 as they did this year.  So they aren't going to need as much cap space.  In addition,  Johnson and Pollard are the only starting level players of consequence that are free agents and both of their replacements might already be on the roster.  That would only leave replaceing potential cut candidates like Moore, Ridley Barton and a bunch of scrubs.

Borgonzi has the roster in much better shape going forward pending the actual performance of the last two years additions.

Always a likely point of failure. Seems additions are almost always overrated by rule.
