You left off the Carthon extension and promotion followed by his firing months later...

Fair point. I'd put the Carthon hire up there as her worst move but I do wonder if that was league mandated to get help on the Stadium.

rumor is Amy was the one demanding all the wr screens

Why hire Brinker and give him total control over football decisions if you're going to meddle and make decisions like this.    She's just like her dad if this story is true and there is litt

It's 1 of 32. It is going to attract a quality candidate. The bears fired Matt Eberflus midseason and hired Ben Johnson.    This whole notion of "no one is going to want the job" is bullshit

Dude... The Titans are historically bad getting crushed by bad teams every week, and getting worse every week. if AAS had had enough because of the product on the field, thats not her being emotional. Thats her saying I've lost confidence Callahan can turn this around and if Brinker/Borgonzi weren't there yet, I'm glad she overruled them. The decision needed to be made. That doesn't mean it was reactionary, not well thought out etc...

If you honestly believe Amy made a well thought-out, football-based decision here, then we’ll just have to agree to disagree — and that’s fine. That’s what a message board’s for.

Now this is reactionary. Aside from Carthon and Callahan, who was a bad hire?

Hired Jrob. he did a good job building a playoff contender then he fell off

hired Vrabel. Good HC who got power hungry and forced his way out

Hired Carthon. He was a hot candidate coming from the 49ers, turned out be a dud

Hired Callahan at the direction of Brinker/Carthon. another hot candidate who was a dud

Hired Brinker

Hired Borgonzi

She has hired top tier candidates who came highly recommended, some didn't work out. Thats the business of sports

And at the first sign of trouble with the "good hires" she flushed them. With Callahan, her football people preach patience and she presumably agrees until she can't take it anymore and essentially says "I'm firing him and y'all figure out how to pick up the pieces". She's not a patient person, period. Be honest; if in the future, Amy preaches patience with something, will you believe her? I sure as hell won't.

I think that will become even more evident when the other openings are announced and a direct comparsion can be made.  Ward is still promising, plenty of cap space and Borgonzi is respected as the new coaches immediate supervisor.

Everyone knew Callahan needed to be fired. If you don't realize that a crushing loss to a really bad football team would help inform that decision, I don't know what else to say.... I said Sunday night it would be better perception wise to take the hit this week than to wait after the Pats game. You don't like the timing but that doesn't mean it was reactionary. it should have happened a few weeks ago

its actually disappointing to me AAS had to make this call. It should have been Brinker going to AAS and saying now is the time and here is why.

Yeah. I don't get what the difference is in waiting to the end of the season and firing him now. If you have decided you're going to do something, why wait? Go ahead and do it and get it over with.

I would be more inclined to debate this point if the Titans weren't clearly spiraling out of control and getting destroyed week in and week out. Things were compounding weekly. This wasn't a case of the team was competivie, won a few games, but she pulled the trigger at 2-3 because she thought they would be better. Thats not impatience... Thats dealing with reality.

The only part of this story that is troublesome (if true) is that she mandated Callahan relinquish playcalling duties. If that is true then that is bad.

It is not a bad thing that she made the call to fire Callahan because he needed to be fired. No one can sit here and actually defend Callahan as a coach. He is the worst coach in the history of this franchise.

Look, you can keep spouting your take, but this will be the last time I reply because we’re literally going in circles. It’s fine that we don’t agree — I’m not trying to change your mind, and you don’t need to paint a picture for me. Let’s just leave it at that.

So, in light of this discussion, let's say that McCoy has a modicum of success, not winning many games, but competitive games, etc... Mularkey like.  AAS shows up at the couple of wins and gives out game balls maybe even a gameball to a tearful McCoy.  After the season, do Brinker/Borgonzi put their necks on the line and say McCoy is not the coach, we want a different guy? Or do they go along with what they think AAS wants even if it's not the best choice for the franchise?

If there’s anyone to bitch about its Brinker. He’s the football man. He somehow approved the BC hire, coexisted with him for a year, had the opportunity for a reset and decided he liked what he saw.

We saw BC emotionally get swayed by the crowd to change his decision of a 4th down, guy didn’t know some rules, no cohesive strategy. There’s no way you can work with BC and not see all of this shit.

It reminds me of when I was an InfoSec student. We had a fraud prof. She wasn’t able to clarify with detail to a level someone with their masters in the field should. We ended up finding her masters thesis and it was fully plagiarized. The only reason we had to do that was because we brought our concerns to the head of the program. He reassured us that she was of a high caliber, they personally interviewed her. I’m sure this is what the players feel lol.

Luckily once we showed her thesis was fraudulent they fired her. Glad we had someone erratic and emotional enough to fire someone mid semester. Figured we had level headed leaders who would have waited until the end of the semester.

People said this last time when I expressed concern after Robinson's midseason firing, and we ended up with the worst coach in NFL history.

The Titans aren't the Bears.  Neither they nor any other team have had 3 GMs and soon to be 3 HCs over the period of 4 years.  They also had a young assembly of skill players. Even if you think the opinion of Ward is high, who is he going to throw to?  The coach will be tasked with bringing along young WRs along with a young QB, while he may not even get the players he needs as the GM has to tend to many holes throughout the roster.   And he may simply be fired before the roster is in decent enough shape to start winning.I'd pass.

Was there anyone on this board who didn't think that Callahan should not have been stripped of playcalling duties?  It's possible that AAS saw something that was plainly obvious, no one was doing anything about it so she took it upon herself to do it.

I mean, she hired these TWO guys, not one, but TWO to make these decisions.

I just can't believe this shit about her telling them to strip him of his playcalling. It's fucking ridiculous. McCormick's retarded ass is either misunderstanding something he heard or he's vindictively piling onto the AAS is trigger happy narrative because he's always months/years behind the curve.

Remember, this is one of the guys who tried to snake this very community when JTB decided to pull the rug out from under TC. He's not exactly a bastion of trustworthiness.
