Still enjoying the  and fun, but thought I'd stop in and post.  I've said before that I don't care who Borgonzi hires, as long as he gets it right!  So, if it's Nagy, I'll be on board, because Borgonzi thinks it could be possible to recreate the KC way in Nashville maybe?

 

If so, why wouldn't the KC way have a chance of working?  I was the first one to say that Cam possesses Mahomie traits, then what do ya know, later on Borgonzi comes out and basically said the same thing!  

 

So, if Borgonzi thinks Nagy is finally ready for another try as HC - and wants him to get our Mahomie like QB Cam Ward a ring, then I'm ok with it.  You better get it right though! *shakes  at Borgonzi*

My sentiments exactly. If he is willing to stake his career on Nagy (or any other candidate) I'm good with it. GMs only get one bite at the apple........he better make it count.

And Tomlin sitting out a year doesn't bother them-  just Tomlin and fans.  They way they'll see it is-  IF he wants to coach this year. He can work with that team so Pitt can can get a draft pick.  And really- holding to the contract keeps that option open.. so if he does go.. tehy can get something out of it.. maybe something big. 

I know all this is de rigueur for the NFL but a couple of things:

 

If things got "tough" there's not always just another HC job waiting for you.

 

Call me old fashioned, but after 19 years I think Tomlin has given enough to the Steeler organization. Maybe he is content to take a year off and is not bothered by being sidelined.

 

I don't expect the Steelers to give him a way since this is a league-wide thing, but any team or coach can be helped or hurt by these requirements. My bet is that some lawyer is responsible for this complexity ruling the day. Yay for litigation!

 

You work and you get paid. You don't work and you don't get paid. You get paid, better show up for work or you don't get your next paycheck.

 

Players face more restriction because it helps with leaguewide competitiveness which is essential. Certain teams/markets have a natural advantage in Free Agency, but that is confined by Salary Cap constraints.

 

Great coaching is an advantage but each team only has one HC.

They restructured his deal in 2022, they would’ve owed him $0 in 2023 if the hadn’t done that, so there was $4.5m dead cap in 2023

2023-$4.5m against the cap

Was mainly surprised it came from Nate Tice's mouth as he is normally a bit more level headed than that.
