Kirk's death will only embolden the next group of leaders who will pursue truth and will stand in defiance against the evil that has infiltrated the ideologies of today's youth. I doubt it, he will be quickly forgotten. These mouth breathers don't have a history of being remembered. Rush Limbaugh was forgotten overnight. The same snowflakes that are constantly outraged will be crying whether Kirk is dead or not. Some other racist piece of shit right winger will take his place easily. Never have, mocked it and said it was an acceptable sacrifice. Didn't care when their own did the killings. Political violence and murder isn't the issue. Charlie was theirs and he died, theoretically, for their beliefs. That's what's unacceptable. Of course, you've got others mocking Charlie so the cult feels justified. Charlie was assassinated, publicly and brutally, and he died for what the cult believes and does. It'll be a really effective rallying point because the death is clearly wrong and the reason is very personal. Charlie will be a more effective fake martyr - I say fake because of his comments that gun deaths are acceptable and empathy is harmful - than that loser who died attacking the capital on Jan 6th. She was far from forgotten despite earning her death rather directly. He'll be a way better rallying call. And it's at least partially correct this time. They're outraged bc their propaganda is telling them to be outraged. Its really that simple. How we feel or react to it has little impact. Popular Post Mythos27
Personally, I have empathy for what happened to Charlie. I saw the video too and that was a horrible, terrifying way to go. I deeply disliked the guy and honestly pretty much everyone in that right wing media environment but I genuinely can't stop thinking about what happened. I can't imagine being in his shoes and having my wife and kids see something like that happen to me. I too wish that more on the left were empathetic on this one, however, the empathy has to flow both ways. As someone on the left, all I have seen my adult life from the right is vitriol, hate, and callousness. I've seen most of the right delight in the ill-treatment, persecution, and at times even death of political opponents and marginalized groups. When that's all you see your entire adult life, yeah, you're going to stop feeling for the people fanning those flames. Going forward, I would love to see a tamping down of eliminationist political rhetoric in general and expressions of empathy and solidarity from both sides but it HAS to be a two way street. The standard can't be "we laugh at you when bad things happen to you but expect compassion and understanding when bad things happen to me" and frankly that's what I'm seeing from the right. The more extreme people on the right are going as far as using this tragedy to declare war on all democrats/leftists (as if democrats are OK with what happened) and some are calling for civil war. How are we supposed to be united by a tragedy when the right is openly declaring war on us? I have empathy for Charlie, not because he deserves it but because I believe empathy is an expression of who you are and you can't turn it off for people you dislike. Every one doesn't have to see it the same way I do and I understand the anger on both sides but the brakes must be applied regardless of whose at fault here because the alternative is an environment where you can be murdered for you political views and half the country feels nothing about it. That's terrifying and it has already touched liberals and conservatives alike. Jamalisms, heyitsmeallen, MadMax, and 6 others
LongTimeFan
The usual TDS sufferers never disappoint in their hatred of someone with a different opinion. Charlie Kirk was willing, and invited, debate. Whether you agree or disagree in his values is moot. Good and evil is merely a point of view. He’s just another crazy right wing podcaster/influencer spouting racist and misogynist propaganda to drive clicks so he can sell ads. They’ll just replace him with some other piece of shit by the end of the week. The internet is full of these trolls looking to cash in on the suckers. nine
Political assassinations were once relegated to third world nations and banana republics….. but are now a byproduct of the modern state of affairs in America and American politics. Much like school shootings…. I suggest everyone get used to it and stop pretending to care about the victims who are killed and the families who are impacted. The fact that nobody on either side is willing to take meaningful steps to stop it proves that we really don’t give a shit; they’re just collateral damage.
