Good read and some interesting stats.   The QB EPA and Edge pressure rate stuff was not surprising in the least.  NPF being awful while missing a bunch of time also was funny.

I don’t think anyone (whose opinion you should care about) would disagree with that. It’s just how you address it with your current timeline and the resources available.

That's the best needs article I've looked at this off-season. Definitely helps me think edge is the second round pick.

The blitz stuff was pathetic too.  67% of blitzes didn't result in pressure.....

 

They are going to get TORN UP if they don't add some pass rushers to the mix.

You generally win with rushing 4 anyway and not with excessive blitzing.  The funny part is some want to trade away the one DL on the roster who can basically win matchups one on one in Simmons.

 

Also it looks like most of the run defense issues are on the LB and not the DL.  The LB position is one where they can take advantage of the 1 position in the Waiver Wire.  That and they have enough young talent to cycle through at this point.

 

I think Borgonzi gets it and they will attack EDGE with some of the earlier picks .  This is where either not accepting the Rams trade last year really comes back to haunt them.

Green and Pearce have been talked about as falling, but would it be worth it to pass up on them in favor of trading down if someone were to come wigh an offer of a mid-to-late 2nd and a 3rd round pick?

 

If they aren't there, but Golden or some other such receiver were to fall, same question applies.

If you're convinced the player at 35 is a day 1 starter, I think you have to stick and pick as sucky as that is.  Assuming they stick and pick at 1.

This is why I hated getting rid of Landry. Sure, he wasnt worth his pay to per snap pass rush production -but was great at setting the edge, still our best pass rusher and a team leader who did everything right that he could.. His number totals were good over a few year span and he wasnt old. IMade an existing hole even bigger when he left.

 

The money doesnt even come into play this season. At least not yet. 

 

We keep dropping our best pass rushers, have shitty pass rush production, then get confused as to why.

Not sure about Green but I’d guess the Pearce falling stuff is true.  I’d guess Green still goes before 35.  Just depends on how they have Pearce rated.

 

They would probably take Golden and just probably trade up from one of the fourth rounders to take an edge guy if they like one that has fallen to round 3.

I would have actually tried to sign somebody in FA who could actually rush the passer from the edge spot .  Even one of these guys like Uche, Ojulari etc.

 

I did find it really funny when I pointed out that we have zero edge rushers, a couple of people were saying what about Lorenzo Carter ?  Dude is just a jag who couldn’t get anything done with the Falcons who sucked at pass rushing.

Here’s the thing, the team needs to bring multiple starters in and secure some position for the long-term. In my

mind, quantity never outweighs quality. 
 

I would love a trade down at #35, but if Burden, Ezeirauaku, or someone similar is there then it may make sense to take them. 

 

It is about getting great players, not getting a couple of good ones

Those shitty numbers were with him and he was massively overpaid.

Exactly .  This team needs someone who can step in on day one and either rush the passer or get open and catch passes from Ward.  If one of those players reaches 35 , you can’t fault them for sticking and picking.

 

This next part might seem like a joke but Levis does have a little trade value . He can be used as a trade up asset if they want to move up into round 3 using one of the fourths (most likely the Seattle one).
