It's really hard to fathom the level of retardation that is required to vote someone in based on reacting to high (but falling) inflation, and then supporting this idiot as he goes about implementing

It isn't difficult; they are just that stupid...

Also, can we just laugh at the absurdity of Trump claiming to be some master deal-maker and then revealing that the primary tool in his tool-kit is threatening his allies with economic violence? Are w

It's a game of economy chicken. Who's excited? Such daring, such strategy.

Remember when Trump said the tariff game was easy to win.

It has no winners, only losers.  But this is what MAGA has given us.

Easy to win just like it was easy to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Isreal-Palistine... etc.

Not easy!

President Donald Trump threatened to put a 200 percent tariff on all alcoholic products coming out of the European Union, including French wine and Champagne, as he takes the transatlantic trade war up a notch.

"The European Union, one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World, which was formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States, has just put a nasty 50% Tariff on Whisky," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Wednesday morning.

"If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES.

"This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S."

The Irish Taoiseach was meeting Trump yesterday. He managed to smooth his ego and play it off well enough, but did counter some of the stuff Trump was spewing about Ireland taking advantage of the US

He pointed out that Boeings two largest customers are Irish companies and that Ireland are a top 10 Foreign investor in the US in the entire world, despite having only 5 million people. Trump looked surprised to hear these things.

I suspect he has no idea the potential disruption Tarriffs can cause, to everyones detriment. He sees negative trade deficit as inherently bad. This is a view challenged by basically every economist in the world outside of the one advising him

I've got perhaps an even funnier one - Australia, also being slapped with iron and steel tariffs and soon others, has historically had a trade deficit with the US by a factor or 2 to 3 (meaning, Australia imports a lot more of US goods than they export to the US). The one month this wasn't the case basically since forever? January 2025. And why? because of Trump's instability, gold exports from Aus to the US increased sharply.

His own actions caused it, lol.

Here is how I see the current situation, and how I am playing it:

Markets: think Trump is fool who is just playing with tariffs.

Reality: Trumps main plan is centered around tariffs, whether it is to greenmail net exporting countries to swap their US bond holdings for non-tradeable 100 year nil-interest bonds as rumored, or simply to grift them.  Either way, he is not playing and the tariff situation will worsen.

Near future: Financial markets will come to recognize that tariffs are real combined with signs that the economy is being hurt. Then the barn door is open for a complete fallout.

Build up dry powder, and you can live like kings if you can buy after all that.
