"I know a guy that knows the krafts that believes vrabel meeting with the Jets may have had something to do with firing mayo if they were teetering on the decision..." Come on man. Like I said that clause to make mayo the coach in waiting did not preclude them from going after Vrabel last year. All they would have had to do is buyout mayo's contract at the time. It allowed them to bypass the hiring process if they so chose and that's what they did.

Lots of rationalizing about they didn't win a SB so it doesn't matter. I can give you the main, legitimate, excuse right now ahead of time: They have a franchise QB and the Titans don’t (yet). oldschool
IsntLifeFunny
When did Drake Maye become a franchise QB? I'm sure the Patriots see him as one, but he hasn't shown nearly enough to think he's a long term answer. Jamalisms

Obviously, things can change and it isn’t definitive yet. But that’s why the New England job was the best job available - franchise QB, 130M in cap space, and high draft picks. Hilarious to me Mayo fucked them on the way out.

I didn't watch that much of him, but I definitely liked him coming out. I must have missed where he was playing really well (not being a dick just didn't really hear about this great stretch). oldschool
tgo
Jeffery Simmons trade value will never be higher than it is right now with Vrabel coming in and wanting to establish his culture. The time to capitalize is now.Fleece him. By the time the Titans are in contention again, he’ll be past his prime. I don't think there's any way AAS would approve of a trade of Simmons to the Patriots.

Trading Simmons to the Patriots to play with Mike Vrabel and watching them both win would not exactly help the cause. They need players. Unless you get an absolute haul, and I mean a first rounder this year and probably a future second rounder, you can't do it. CreepingDeath
