This analytics guy evaluated how much of an impact a good offensive line and offensive weapons have on the success of rookie quarterbacks. The answer? Basically none. QB’s play well or poorly irregardless of the quality of OL and pass catchers. The most important thing is getting the QB pick right, whether you have a good supporting cast in place or not. That’s basically a green light to draft a QB whenever you like a guy. This is why Chicago is in trouble and why Texas dumped Tunsil. It is also why Levis is counted out here in TN. I was being a bit tongue in cheek here because there are so many QB who leave their rookie franchise and do well elsewhere. I think the staff fit is key for QBs. Callahan was a bad hire because he is not a Levis fit and he certainly is not a Ward fit. This is just another reason I think Drafting Ward is not wise. Sanders and Dart are better fits for Callahan. Kid from Louisville would be a good fit for him too.
OnsideKick
Among the 46 OL Combine prospects who re-measured at their pro day, 43 had longer arms at the pro day (measured by NFL scouts). This wasn't only a Will Campbell issue. Teams usually lean on Combine #'s, but not this year.

The hit rate on WRs from Ohio State is ridiculous. Ward's last two leading WRs ran a 4.7 (Josh Kelly at the combine) and 4.86 (Xavier Restrepo). Despite being slow as hell, they both averaged over 15 YPC with Ward. He doesn't need a WR with great separation or YAC talent, but someone who is simply in the right place and who will make the catch. Egbuka would obviously be great if he somehow fell to them.
