You know how it goes.  While I think realistically most of us know that fans expect to win every game.  Even the good teams, they're going to lose games and when that happens the board is in meltdown mode.

I’m already expecting to see the meltdowns when the team loses games they had no business winning anyway.

Because 1. if we suck ass too bad, then we could likely be starting over again with the HC. Setting our new (hopeful) franchise QB back with organizational inconsistencies / instability - like we always seem to do. 

...and 2. If Ward looks like a badass and we are better than we expect, there are obvious holes that would hold us back from achieving more.

I enjoyed watching Ward try to make things happen with that ragtag group of bums last week.  Ridley is usually open when he's targeted, but Ward had to throw these guys open and would have succeeded if they didn't suck ass.  He's going to be good.

I can see where you’re coming from on this, but I disagree. I think Callahan is safe as long as Ward is improving and showing he is the franchise guy. I think his job is pretty safe. 
 

And even if we are better than expected, no shot we are contending for a Super Bowl with the other talented teams. 
 

There are just too many holes to fill and the expectations should stay at ‘we are likely going to suck this year.’

I think he's safe too. Just giving reasons why people may want more urgency in roster development. 
 

the plan - unless the results are just god awful - should be to let Callahan develop a young QB (as that's why he was brought here) . 2 years with cam (as long as growth is occurring) then re-evaluate his contract against available options for taking it to the the next level.

I like Callahan. I like how he handles himself. He's said all the right things since he's been here...including his comments on his offensive philosophy.

 

I didn't like what I saw last season. I attribute most of it to Levis and the OLine, but the run heavy play calling on early downs reminded me way too much of what I hated about the offense under Vrabel. I'm going on the assumption he was trying to fit the offense to what gave Levis the best chance to succeed because it didn't look anything like what he talked about when he was hired. Ward should be a much better fit for the quick passing game, so I'm hopeful. If instead it looks like more of the same from last season I'll definitely be concerned.

 

The one thing I know for sure though, is it's virtually impossible to build a successful franchise when there's a revolving door for coaches and GMs. They need to be patient. It should take a complete catastrophe before they make the decision to start over again with a new coaching staff...regardless of what the fans think.

He knew what he was doing. Tony Pollard and the run game could be counted on and Levis and pass protection couldn’t be.

I take comfort in the fact that we'll know for sure after this season. The OL at least appears to be serviceable and Cam is in a different league than Levis. If we go into a run-first shell for extended periods of time them I'm off the band-wagon because at that point you've shown that you don't have either the balls or the ability to run the type of offense you want to run at a high level.

I think the expectation is that the team will be poor. As a fan you can have concerns about the roster and the coaching staff. That doesn't mean you let the coaching staff off the hook because the roster isn't great or let the players off the hook because the coaches aren't HOF talent.

Cam's press conferences are above any I have seen from a Titans' QB.  The things he says he trying to do are past any comments I have seen any of the rest mention.  He's not throwing out the same lines, or giving answers of avoidance.  He gets right to the point and his answers are easily understood.

 

He understands what his receivers can do and tries to put the ball within their ability to catch it.  He communicates and creates an environment where they have a voice.  He said he needed to throw a better ball to Jefferson, yeah right.  Cam was saying the two of then need to understand what they do together better.

 

He's a leader.  I take the blame.  Now we work it out.

My issue was not being run heavy. It was being run heavy on early downs. The best way to protect a QB that doesn't handle pressure well behind an OLine that can't protect is to try to keep them out of obvious passing situations. We went over this ad-nauseam when Vrabel was force feeding Henry on first and second down even when he had Tannehill.

I think the problem with that is levis is such a fuck wit hoping you gain 4 yards on the ground every first down is the safer option than letting him throw it, ever lol.
