He needs things to write and get clicks and the best way to do that is write about whatever the counter narrative is. That's just the industry he's in really

Or.....he understands that if the NYG strike out on Rodgers and Wilson (more than possible), they would be more desperate a month from now as opposed to today when they still could have a short term patch with those 2 vets......

Even Wyatt on the OTP isn't ruling out a trade down as of a couple of days ago.

Inherent in this is that no player in this draft is rated highly enough to completely eliminate the Titans from not considering a trade down package.  Doesn't mean they won't opt to stick and pick at 1 at the end of the day.

I think it's obvious at this point the Titans are taking Ward. I'm on board and think his ceiling is pretty high. Callahan gave an interview to A to Z after the season that was super revealing about t

I'm totally fine with the Titans drafting Ward. Enough people think he can be good and he's shown enough NFL traits. It would not be like the Titans overdrafting Anthony Richardson or Trey Lance.

I'm not saying its a given we take Ward. I was agreeing with your sentiment- that unless a great offer comes.. they are standing pat.  Everyone kind of gets that.   But as a writer - he needs something to write about. So whatever the counter narrative is- that's what he is and should write aobut.

Well I think he and some others are simply pushing back from the very lazy narrative that it's no question Ward going at 1 to the Titans.   At this point, it's simply way too early to claim that's set in stone for the variety of reasons we've discussed on here.

I mean - his job is to get clicks and engagements.  All the media guys do this.  They try to find the counter narrative and write that. Its why media goes through these cycles on prospects that becomes so predictable. Write the counter narrative until its the narrative and then write the new counter narrative which was the old narrative.   Its just this organic cycle of that business.

I think the heavy OL investment confirms the pick.  They are taking a $26M cap hit for Dan Moore next year, so they are serious about protecting somebody.

Well you could also point to Borgonzi's comments on focusing on the OL/DL and he and Brinker's talk on wanting/needing more day 1/2 draft picks and coming away saying they could trade down from 1, ideally draft Carter and continue focusing on building the lines and then attacking the long term QB issue in 2026.

It would require letting Levis and Allen battle it out for QB and likely seeing another down season but if your goal is to be a perennial contender when the new stadium opens you could live with that.

I can't  stomach the thought of seeing Levis start ever again. If Allen is starting, we might go 1-16.

I agree with your first part, but they should've been going after Darnold or being more aggressive on other FA QB (Jones, Fields, etc) if that were the case.

Unless the priority isn't wins in 2025 but rather building the foundation for long term success.  Likewise, they very well could say we think Will Levis, under a rookie contract, is a better option than the second tier veteran options out there (no evidence they were in on Darnold - it seemed like it was Vikings, Steelers, and Seattle) and Fields to me wasn't a scheme fit at all.

PK isn't wrong but he's also after clicks so he uses a headline that doesn't reflect the report he actually filed. It's what sports journalism has turned into in the podcast era.

Do I think it's 100% Ward for the Titans? Yes I do. All signs point to it. If it doesn't happen it will be a huge surprise.

PK isn’t wrong, I also think a few Titan's folks prefer Sanders. Cally being one of them. A trade back doesn’t mean no QB. Sanders is still possible, I highly doubt the team drafts Dart.

I would be shocked if Callahan prefers sanders to Ward. That narrative never made any sense to me.

Moore is essentially on a 2 year deal and Zeitler is a 1 year deal.  Those seem less like foundational moves and more like win-now moves.

The analytics say otherwise. Sanders does have the best WAT Weighted Average Target in this class. The best WAT in 2023: Stroud, best WAT in 2024: Daniels.
